Ruck 135

About This Fundraiser

"Ruck 135" is a January suicide-prevention fundraiser in which I will walk 135 miles from Austin to the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Each mile honors one life lost to suicide each day in 2023. All donations go directly to NAMI Texas and Stop Soldier Suicide. Additionally, we hope to create a way for our communities to engage in difficult conversations and look out for one another.

We are proud to partner with two impactful organizations: NAMI Texas and Stop Soldier Suicide. NAMI Texas, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by mental illness since 1984. With a network of 30 local affiliates across Texas and more than 2,000 dedicated members, NAMI Texas offers education, support, and advocacy to uplift individuals living with mental health conditions. Your support of this fundraiser will help NAMI Texas continue its vital work in mental health awareness and recovery.

Stop Soldier Suicide, also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded by veterans for veterans and is uniquely positioned to tackle the intricate challenges faced by service members and veterans. Their mission is straightforward yet powerful: stop soldier (service member and veteran) suicide. By contributing to this cause, you join a community committed to preventing military-related suicides and ensuring our heroes receive the mental health support they deserve.

Having personally experienced the devastating impact of suicide during my college years and recognizing the pressing issue within our military force as I prepare to become a lieutenant, this journey holds deep personal significance. "Ruck 135" is more than a physical challenge; it's a tribute to those we've lost and a call to action for each of us to cultivate intentional relationships and take proactive steps in suicide prevention.

We invite you to support "Ruck 135" and join us in this critical mission. Your donations will directly benefit NAMI Texas and Stop Soldier Suicide, empowering them to continue their life-saving work.
