πŸ’• A Message from the organizer, Nick:

Family & Friends LA is facing absolute tragedy and countless families have lost everything. The fires still burn despite tireless efforts. There is SO much we can do and I’m so inspired to see people from all over SHOWING UP. You can help by putting a donation in the hands of foundations that can allocate it immediately to where it’s needed most. I’m partnered w/ www.Calfund.org who have a dedicated WILDFIRE RECOVERY FUND. It provides critical recovery services, including housing, mental health, and medical care for displaced residents. Every cent here will be directed to that fund to help rebuild these communities. Contributions of any value will change lives and if funds are tight, sharing this page is free :) Much love to you all

Wildfire Recovery Fund

In the aftermath of a disaster, immediate needs for victims can include shelter, food, cash and other basic needs. A community’s recovery is often more complex and depends on the scope of the disaster and an affected community’s specific context and needs. For these reasons, the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund supports both mid-term to long-term recovery efforts for those affected by California wildfires. Since the Wildfire Recovery Fund opened in 2003, we have granted more than $32 million to support relief and recovery efforts in the aftermath of these devastating wildfires.

When supporting relief organizations, consider marking your gift as general operating support. By doing so, you enable the organization to both respond to current disasters and be prepared for those that may arise in the future.

As of today, our Wildfire Recovery Fund has raised more than $70 million, allowing us to provide critical support to communities devastated by the fires. With these funds, we have awarded two rounds of grants, providing more than 200 nonprofit organizations across Los Angeles County with more than $30 million. This has been critical for frontline organizations focused on ensuring resources reach those most needed. Grants have covered the cost of emergency relief, housing assistance, mental health services, legal aid, and other critical coordination, information, and long-term recovery services. Please visit our website for a complete list of the new grantees and to learn more.

Being able to support this number of Angelenos in need in such a short amount of time is a testament to the generosity and resilience of our community. Thank you for standing with us as we continue rebuilding lives and neighborhoods. We look forward to taking you β€œbehind the scenes” into the work of these incredible organizations as we profile our grantees and their impact in our β€œLA Strong” video series.

Stay with us and spread the word by following our social media handles linked below. If you’d like to continue supporting the wildfire recovery efforts, please visit here.
