PORTS (Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students)® Program is a free-to-use distance-learning program with California State Parks! This innovative program became a lifeline during the pandemic for keeping students and parks connected. PORTS has reached more than 1,000,000 students with the program -- 270,000 in the last academic year!
But PORTS cannot continue, let alone grow, without generous financial support. If you want students to learn about nature, science, biodiversity, habitat stewardship, and climate resilience in a super engaging format, this is a chance to make an investment in students -- the park visitors, stewards and advocates not just now but for decades to come.
PORTS uses the power of videoconferencing to support K-12 educators in designing deep and meaningful learning experiences in virtual and in-person classrooms.
Reaching digitally into classrooms makes it possible for teachers and students to directly access California State Parks they may never experience otherwise creating more equitable and sustainable access to California's treasured parks. The passPORTS program is an additional feature that helps fund in-person trips to parks to follow up the virtual introduction, removing barriers to transportation so all students can get out into nature.
Your support today helps maintain and improve the PORTS program, helps expand PORTS to additional parks, and helps create opportunities for students to make the in-person trips when field trips return! Your donation supports PORTS and Parks California (50/50 split), the non-profit partner to PORTS so that Parks California can continue to support the work of California's state parks and help make parks more welcoming, accessible, inclusive and climate resilient.
