Pledge to make a difference, together.
Easterseals of Southeastern Pennsylvania's mission is to provide exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. With this mission in mind, and as the needs of the disability community evolve, so do we. The definition of disability is broadening, going beyond physical conditions to include invisible, emotional, social and educational challenges. Easterseals is working hard to change the way the world defines and views disability by making profound, positive differences in people’s lives every day. We are proud to serve more than 7,000 individuals and their families in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, North Hampton, Berks and Lehigh counties.
Meet Anna – Anna is the picture of quiet determination and grace with a smile that will touch your heart. At five and a half years old, she has faced seemingly insurmountable odds, which include congenital CMV, hydrocephalus and an arachnoid cyst. Since she was six weeks old, Anna has been receiving services through Easterseals. A team of therapists, including occupational, physical, speech and vision therapies would come to her home to provide therapy. By the time she was three, she no longer needed speech therapy. This year, Anna began attending the Friendship Academy, an inclusive preschool program and she loves it! Since she started, she is taking more independent steps and her reading skills are emerging. Her parents love the inclusive environment and the social opportunities it provides. When she isn’t at school, Anna loves being with her big brothers, parents and big extended family. Junk food is her favorite food group, Llama Llama is her favorite book series and singing and dancing, especially to her favorite Disney soundtracks, is a favorite activity. It is also important to note her very big passion for anything purple! With the love and support of her family and her dedicated team at Easterseals, it is easy to see how Anna continues push past expectations of what she would be able to accomplish.
