Madam Baizura is a woman of unwavering strength and selfless determination, who perseveres to love and care for her family members in spite of her health situation. Despite being affected by unemployment and having to go for dialysis treatment 3 times weekly due to her kidney illness, she is still determined to carry out her role as a caring wife, a loving mother, and a filial daughter-in-law for her husband, son, and mother-in-law, catering to their needs while at home. Great Heart’s support to her via the Hand-in-Hand Dialysis Aid Program since December 2022 has been a lifeline, covering her dialysis fees that alleviates some of her family’s burden, while she applies for dialysis subsidy from the social welfare department. Mr Hew is a source of inspiration, a person who bravely faces life’s many challenges with unyielding spirit and determination, which is further strengthened by the love from his family. At 44, he resides with his wife and three young children, the eldest being 22 years old. Previously employed as a lorry driver for many years, he encountered a setback in February 2023 when he was laid off after falling ill to kidney failure. However, amidst these trying times of losing his primary source of income as well as falling to ill health, Mr Hew’s eldest daughter has stepped up to shoulder the responsibility of supporting the family.
