Our Mission

The Raffaella Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes to foster diversity in urban societies and agricultural ecosystems by supporting and conducting research and operating platforms that disseminate information on combating local and global inequities. To do so, the Foundation works worldwide in multiple languages to identify ways to educate and support rural and urban societies to embrace the use of diverse ideas and practices, diverse production systems, diverse languages, cultures and ethnic groups, diverse gender identities, and diverse behaviors and norms, to enhance equity, solidarity, and well-being.

To achieve these goals, the Foundation identifies and facilitates relevant new and innovative partnerships among platforms, networks and organizations that strengthen societies’ capacity to embrace social and environmental diversity and to address some of the major local and global challenges of urban and rural societies.

The Raffaella Foundation also hosts the free open-source IT platform DATAR: the Diversity Assessment Tool for Agrobiodiversity and Resilience to feed and restore our planet (www-datar-par.org ).

Give today to become part of our global mission for diversity, equity and real change.

DATAR : The Diversity Assessment Tool for Agrobiodiversity and Resilience to feed and restore our plant, is our multi-lingual FREE open-source software platform with a web interface ( https://www.datar-par.org), the DATAR Web Portal, and an Android App that allows the integration of diverse local CROP VARIETIES, LIVESTOCK BREEDS, and AQUATIC FARMED-TYPES into decision-making plans. Available now in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabic, the tool has helped development agents working with local farmers and herders to introduce and implement on the ground actions that make use of the vast local crop and livestock diversity available in productions systems to improve their livelihoods. Development of the Aquatic farmed-types component for local aquaculture systems is planned for 2024. The development of the DATAR WEB Portal and the DATAR APP was made possible through the generous support of the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) - International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the UN Environment Prorgramme (UNEP): Cross-cutting capacity building, knowledge services and coordination project for the Food Security Integrated Approach Pilot Program - GEF project 9140.
