The Huntington Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter is dedicated to serving Cabell and Wayne counties by saving abandoned dogs and cats and placing them into loving homes. We are passionate about animals and strive to provide the animals under our protection with the utmost care and compassion during their time with us.

Our mission is to reduce the number of unaltered, free-roaming, stray, feral and/or abandoned domestic cats in Benzie County through:1. TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs that require a dedicated caregiver for each individual colony.2. Adoption of placeable cats and kittens into loving homes.3. Education and encouragement of participation of compassionate community members, other animal support groups, veterinarians, and local government.4. Support low cost spay/neuter programs to low income families5. Support local legislation that requires that all animals (canine or feline) that are adopted from the Benzie County Animal Shelter be sexually altered prior to adoption. (even pediatric animals)6. Support local legislation that encourages responsible pet ownership.

The Blue Ridge Zoological Society of Virginia, Inc. dba Mill Mountain Zoo promotes education and conservation, while maintaining the highest standards of animal care. The Zoo advances three core beliefs: excellence in the implementation of the highest standards of animal care; conservation management of endangered, vulnerable, and threatened species; and enhancing science education through its animal collection. Mill Mountain Zoo strives to provide an enjoyable outdoor recreation experience for visitors, within the context of an educational organization dedicated to the natural sciences and management of captive animal species.

To rescue and provide permanent, stable homes, sustenance, and veterinary care for homeless, abandoned, and needy pugs. The prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the extension of humane education. To protect, educate, and advance the interest of the breed by encouraging responsible pet ownerships. We provide loving foster homes for needy pugs in North Carolina and Virginia

The Heartworm Project is a volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that provides medical care for shelter animals in need. Founded in 2004, the original purpose was to treat heartworm positive dogs at local shelters who were scheduled to be euthanized because of their illness. Since inception, we have expanded to include dogs and cats of all ages who need medical intervention that shelters are not capable of providing.
