Equine Rescue

Assisting in the enforcement of cruelty laws. Their plan was to create a shelter for equines... a rescue that would provide care, rehabilitation and adoption services for abused, neglected, abandoned and unwanted horses. Pretty simple, they thought -- help a few horses out, they thought. They were not prepared for the floodgates that opened. They have taken in horses with physical scars so vicious that they can only guess what happened; others with emotional scars that won't allow them to trust again. But they have also helped many, many horses and ponies find homes with people who love them and have given them another chance at being useful riding horses or companions. They make sure that all animals are fully recovered before they are available for adoption.

Birds Of A Feather Rescue

Birds of a Feather RescueMission StatementBirds of a Feather Rescue was formed for the purpose of protecting and rehabilitating unwanted, mistreated, or abused exotic birds. People buy these birds for their beauty and don’t bother to take the time to learn about the birds. We have seen many come through here with different behavior problems due to the treatment they have received. I have a 68 year old Blue Fronted Amazon that was literally beaten by the man that owned the bird before giving him to a woman that brought him here. He is currently being rehabilitated and will hopefully learn to trust men again. I have macaws that have plucked themselves so bad that they will never grow feathers again due the damaged done to the feather follicle. We also have birds here that were just n

Scottish Terrier Rescue of the Southeast

A Scottie Rescue is one who has been previously owned and whose owner can no longer keep them. They are turned in for a variety of reasons and come to us from many sources. Whatever the circumstances, they are in need of a good home, care, and love, and might just be the perfect Scottie companion for you. We work hard to make the perfect and forever match for what each individual Scottie needs with one of our prescreened applicants. We hope you will trust us with a Scottie you may need to re-home, instead of bringing them to a shelter or giving them away to someone who may not have experience with the Scottie temperament. We hope you will consider coming to us if you can provide a loving home to a Scottie who needs a second chance.

The Gentle Barn Foundation

The Gentle Barn is a national nonprofit organization, founded in 1999 as a safe haven and place of recovery for severely abused animals. The Gentle Barn offers their unique philosophy of rehabilitating animals and connecting their stories of survival and healing to the personal experiences of inner city, at-risk and special needs children who have suffered physical, mental, or emotional trauma. By interacting with The Gentle Barn’s approximate two hundred animals and taking a hands-on role in their welfare, those who participate in the programs at The Gentle Barn learn empathy, trust, and forgiveness. The Gentle Barn is run by Founder Ellie Laks and her husband and Co-founder Jay Weiner, both of whom were healed and supported by animals as children. Pan African Sanctuary Alliance

Our goal for PASA is to be an invaluable resource for primate sanctuaries throughout Africa. Recognizing the intrinsic value that wildlife sanctuaries provide as a nexus of long term commitment to enforcement of wildlife laws, animal welfare and conservation of wild primates, we will advocate for our member sanctuaries on these and other relevant issues and provide a readily accessible international communication network for these members. PASA's programs will evolve with the threats that face African primates and the needs of our members; we will continuously seek creative solutions to provide our members with the best tools to promote long term success in the fight to protect and care for Africa's primates. We will accomplish this while maintaining PASA's Culture of Trust and Caring. We will follow PASA's Code of Values which includes transparency, collaboration, fairness, competence, humility and respect both internally with our member sanctuaries and in our relationships with supporters, governments, and non-governmental organizations. Every African primate sanctuary, regardless of size, will be able to obtain quality training and access to conservation services from a membership organization that puts its members' collective interests first and foremost.

Donkeyland

DonkeyLand is one of the nation’s largest facilities for wild burros and donkeys ONLY, as well as an all-volunteer organization. DonkeyLand is dedicated to saving wild burros and their habitats at our nearly 2,000+ acre oasis, a Rescue, Sanctuary and Wildlife Preserve. Now our permanent residents, abundance of other wildlife and as many wild burros brought in our care, have a SAFE place, of their own, to call home. At DonkeyLand “Dreams Come True.” Our Mission Statement “Leaving a legacy to donkeys and our majestic treasured wild burros.” Our Mission Our mission is to elevate the status of donkeys and wild burros. We want to save lives and educate the public about the plight of these animals, both in captivity and in the wild, inspiring humankind to love, respect and protect these innocent creatures. The wild burros in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties are California’s ONLY free-roaming herds left on private property. We vow to leave a legacy to these beautiful, majestic, treasured wild burros. We believe in the beauty of dreams, because dreams really do come true! Our Values Our “RESCUE CENTER, SANCTUARY & WILDLIFE PRESERVE” is not a petting zoo, nor a tourist attraction, but rather, private land for the wild burros, a place of their own to call home. We believe in humane treatment, compassionate care and respect for all animals, especially their right not to be exploited for human purposes. This is why we are closed to the public, to respect the peace and privacy of the wild burros in our care, with 24 access granted to the authorities, Animal Control Department’s and licensed Equine Veterinarians. We hold ourselves to a high standard of integrity, honesty, truthfulness, reliability and uprightness. We are grateful to the teamwork, trust and support of our donors, who offer these broken creatures a new beginning. Our “VISITOR CENTER” opening soon will foster many of our goals to provide wildlife education and awareness to the community about the problems we address with the wild burro herds, like animal cruelty, why it is a dangerous death trap to feed, pet or lure the animals out of the hills near vehicles or the roadways, etc. We encourage the public, as well as the youths in local schools to participate as a team to help protect and preserve the wildlife we co-exist with. All too often people who may mean well, lure the burros to the roadside, hand feed them and let their children run around the various fields like it is a petting zoo or they drive around trespassing on private property like it’s a safari. It has been a real challenge. We believe an educational and visitor center will accomplish many goals. We would love to be able to divert the tourist, public and burro fan’s to learn about the wildlife in a safely monitored atmosphere, for private educational tours, by appointment only. Furthermore, we do NOT allow activities such as baby burro petting, bottle feeding orphans, selfies with the wild burros, or any opportunities to have direct contact with wildlife through walking with the animals, hand feeding them, brushing them, or any other activities. We are NOT a “pay to play” as this is never in the best interests of the animals, it sends an inappropriate message about wild animals and potentially can be dangerous for the safety of both the public and the animals.

Fox Equine Rescue & Youth Horsemanship Center

Here at Fox Equine Rescue & Youth Horsemanship Center we not only rescue and rehabilitate horses in need, but also reach out the youth in our community through our Youth Horsemanship Program, where we teach kids not just horsemanship, but leadership, trust, patience, loyalty, responsibility, and teamwork. We put a focus on the natural way of communication with horses, where the purpose is mutual respect and a trust based relationship. We promote kindness and gentleness with our equine partners, and pass this on to the children that are in our program.
