As the main fundraising partner of the agency, Friends of AHS work statewide to help the organization achieve its strategic plan and goals.

Defenders Of Animal Rights

Defenders of Animal Rights, Inc., is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to alleviate the suffering of abused, unwanted, and neglected animals. They accomplish this goal through rescues, adoptions, a low-cost spay/neuter plan, and through the operation of an 11,250 square-foot animal shelter, a farm refuge, and a 35.8 wildlife sanctuary.

Stamford Animal Shelter Alliance

The Stamford Animal Shelter Alliance is a public/private partnership set up by the City of Stamford to be the official fundraising organization for the Stamford Animal Control and Care Center (SACCC), Stamford’s municipal animal shelter. Its primary mission is to assist in the planning and fundraising for a new, state-of-the-art facility. All monies raised will augment that which the City of Stamford can contribute for this much-needed capital project.

African Lion & Environmental Research Trust

The African Lion and Environmental Research Trust (ALERT) is dedicated to a multi-disciplinary approach for the facilitation and promotion of sound conservation and management plans for the African lion (Panthera leo) and the ecosystems on which the species relies. Through responsible development we aim to realize the species’ potential to provide substantial social, cultural, ecological and economic benefits, that are distributed equitably amongst stakeholders to promote sustainable motivation in them for the protection of Africa’s natural heritage.

Broken Shovels Farm

Broken Shovels Farm is a sanctuary for homeless, abused, neglected, used, slaughterbound animals, a place of healing, growth, and education for all people who wish to see the world become a better place for all animals, human and non-human. We host events to connect farm animals to their human friends, and vice versa, and plan to operate a small non-violence and outdoor education based school for three to five-year-olds.

Wings Of Wonder

Wings of Wonder is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are currently raising funds to build the Wings of Wonder rehab center at the Migizi Aviary. See our website for details, photos and plans. We're partnering with the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians to build the Eagle Aviary. With your help, there will once again be a place to bring sick and injured birds.
