Shepherds Without Borders

Shepherds Without Borders is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is 100% volunteer/donation driven. We are based in the Pacific Northwest of the United States; currently active in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Northern California. All of the German Shepherds placed through Shepherds Without Borders Rescue are assessed for temperament before being accepted. While this is no guarantee of future behavior, it does help us understand how the dog responds to new situations, which can help give our adopters peace of mind regarding the stability of the dogs rescue. We accept owner surrenders of good temperament and our trained volunteers scour shelters in selected areas for the casually discarded, but good dogs who, through no fault of their own, find themselves homeless.

Community Cats Of Benzie County

Our mission is to reduce the number of unaltered, free-roaming, stray, feral and/or abandoned domestic cats in Benzie County through:1. TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs that require a dedicated caregiver for each individual colony.2. Adoption of placeable cats and kittens into loving homes.3. Education and encouragement of participation of compassionate community members, other animal support groups, veterinarians, and local government.4. Support low cost spay/neuter programs to low income families5. Support local legislation that requires that all animals (canine or feline) that are adopted from the Benzie County Animal Shelter be sexually altered prior to adoption. (even pediatric animals)6. Support local legislation that encourages responsible pet ownership.

Kat's Alley Cats

The mission of Kat’s Alley Cats is to humanely and effectively reduce the overpopulation of community cats via Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Community cats, otherwise known as feral, homeless, unowned, free-roaming, or alley cats, are those who are simply not adoptable by nature, through no fault of their own, yet their lives are no less valuable than those of our other furry friends. Kat’s Alley Cats is dedicated to improving the lives of both humans and kitties in our local communities by sterilizing, spaying/neutering, and vaccinating community cats via TNR.Trap-Neuter-Return is the only humane, effective, and permanent solution for stabilizing and ultimately reducing the homeless cat population, while also putting a stop to the endless breeding and reproduction cycle.

Pathways to Safety International

Pathways to Safety International empowers victims of interpersonal & gender based violence abroad. Pathways undertakes the global challenge of assisting victims who are enduring extreme suffering in isolated situations where support seems minimal and many obstacles block the path to safety. Services are provided 24/7/365 via technology on a global scale to American victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and forced marriage. This is achieved via an international toll free crisis line, 833-SAFE-833, accessible from over 120 countries, serving a population estimated at 9 million American civilians living overseas, 80 million Americans traveling overseas, and the 450,000 American military personnel and their dependents.

Placitas Wild

Keep the Spanish descendant wild horses that have roamed the arroys and foothills of our community for decades healthy and free from capture. Find and maintain a save place for them to live in family groups as they have since they descended from Coronado's encampment in our area centuries ago. Sustain them in winter when grass is scarce and during droughts like we've suffered for the past 8 years. Control herd size humanly and provide veterinary care as needed. Participate with the county and other agencies to find a permanent home in the community to keep them safe from traffic and garner wide spread community support to help the funding of a permanent home where visitor can see and more safely interact with these treasures.

Misfit Toys Rescue Division

Our mission at Misfit Toys Rescue Division is to heal the hearts of humans and horses alike, by taking both out of negative situations, and putting them together to grow in love and confidence. Each rescued horse is taught to become a member of our free lesson program for disadvantaged riders who would not have access to horses otherwise. It is our firm belief that each horse will be a perfect match for a rider, and he can stay here in our program until his forever home is found. We do not mass rescue and we invest time, money, and a lot of love into the rehabilitation of each horse. In turn, the horses return the favor for our lesson students. They grow together to learn confidence, teamwork, and a sense of accomplishment. We enjoy our work and are enjoying changing lives.

Rescue City

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. We believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals. We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and national shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a hassle free adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving & committed permanent homes. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed.
