Milo's Sanctuary is a no-kill special needs cat rescue. We take in those that are blind, have physical disabilities, are seniors, have been abused or are suffering from a terminal illness. These special needs often prevent them from being adopted into a “normal” home. For these cats, we provide a Lifetime Care Program by giving them a permanent home and any medical care that they may need to live out the remainder of their natural lives in a safe, loving and healthy environment. We help them understand the plight of animals, in general, and guide them through steps that enable them to keep their animal rather than surrender them to a rescue or shelter.

Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation

Chicago Canine Rescue (CCR) was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in our city. Each dog under our care is treated to a healthy, healing environment. Our qualified and educated professionals provide specialized medical treatment, plus training and adoption services. In its first ten years, CCR has saved over 3,500 dogs, many with special needs. CCR works with the Midwest's largest shelters to rescue animals that are in danger of euthanasia. In addition to caring for healthy and easily adoptable dogs, CCR - unlike most other shelters - also rescues dogs that frequently passed over for adoption, such as a sick or injured animal, a senior dog, or an animal with a manageable illness or disability.

Adoptable animals in our care will be kept as long as it takes to find a suitable home. AHF does not discriminate against animals based on age, breed, color of fur or physical disability. Impact Metrics and Stories
Peaceful Ponies

We harness the unique power of equine therapy in dedication to those facing acute medical, developmental or emotional challenges. Our specially trained miniature horses are taken directly to the facility (or home) of anyone within reach. Compassionate horse therapy is proven to lower heart rates, blood pressure, anxiety, PTSD and depression, while mitigating feelings of loneliness, fear and isolation. Profound benefits are gained almost immediately for our hospice, nursing home and Alzheimer's patients as well as cognitively disabled youth and emotionally traumatized children, many suffering from the abusive horrors of sex trafficking. 100% of your gift goes directly towards horse care and transportation expenses; our trainer/handler works solely as a volunteer, rewarded simply by the Grace of those we serve. Please Help Us lift up a Life!

Faith N Friends

Faith N Friends is a volunteer-run, donation-funded 501(c)3 horse rescue and sanctuary. We accept owner surrenders, rescues, and abandoned equines. We provide community and owner education and assistance as available and are in the process of creating therapy programs for disabled and chronically ill children. Through community outreach and education, Faith N Friends strives to bring understanding and comfort to people of all ages and from all walks as they interact with and learn about horses. There are over 150,000 horses, either in rescues or feral, without permanent homes in the United States. More than 90,000 horses each year are sent to slaughter. Rescue horses have fewer options than their kindred dogs and cats, due to their size and feed requirements. Faith N Friends works to address both the equine and human needs by providing care, treatment, and training, as well as matching loving owners to the right horse while helping and educating horse owners and the community.
