They are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping keep animals alive that might have otherwise have lead to a shorter life because funds were not available to provide the veterinary care, medicine, or medical support needed to prolong their lives.

Their priority is to save dogs from danger and euthanasia, ensure their well-being, and find them good homes. They are not breed-specific, and they do not pick or choose the dogs they rescue. As long as they have the needed space and funds, they rescue all dogs in need.

The NCA Charitable Trust secures donations, manages and distributes funding in support of research grants studying health issues affecting the Newfoundland dog, provides monetary aid for Newfoundland rescue assistance and awards educational scholarships to junior Newfoundland fanciers.
