701 Center For Contemporary Art

701 Center for Contemporary Art (701 CCA) is the largest non-profit organization in South Carolina for continuous contemporary art exhibitions. Founded in 2007, it consists of an art gallery and live-work space for an Artist in Residence (AIR) program. The center’s offerings include free exhibitions and events that are designed to promote understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of contemporary art in Columbia, SC. The center also provides artists in residence with resources to develop, create and exhibit visual art in its interaction with performing, literary and media arts. 701 CCA relies heavily on donations from businesses and individuals because its “staff” consists of a single paid director, board members, and volunteers from the community.
