We do this by developing and implementing programs to help students and educators become more equipped to thrive in our globalized society. We foster cultural awareness in our U.S. students -- and work to bridge the digital divide in the Ghanan community through project-based learning. We want to tear down the education sector's limitations by promoting practical and globalized learning approaches to prepare students for today’s globalized economy.

Descendants of Holocaust Survivors

3GNY is an educational non-profit organization founded by grandchildren of Holocaust survivors. As a living link, we preserve the legacies and the lessons of the Holocaust. Our mission is to educate diverse communities about the perils of intolerance and to provide a supportive forum for the descendants of survivors. Our generation is the last living link to survivors. It is primarily through us that future generations will hear the actual stories of our grandparents’ survival. We must ensure that others see the human face of the Holocaust, as well as understand its details, its place in history and how it is viewed and discussed today. To accomplish these goals, 3GNY creates forums where members meet, learn, connect and share ideas. Founded in 2005 with a group of six, 3GNY’s membership now exceeds 2,000. We have diverse programs, including museum tours, film screenings, theater engagements, discussion groups, book readings, visits and dialogue with survivors, Shabbat dinners, Jewish cultural events, inter-generational gatherings, genealogy workshops and field trips.

GiGi's Playhouse Canton

Programs at GiGi’s Playhouse offer foundational learning opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. GiGi’s Playhouse programs  are a place for parents/caregivers to share ideas and network with one another. We invite caregivers to communicate their needs, questions and concerns with one another, and promote connections to be made in support of each other. GiGi’s programs embrace the family and help aid the development of a healthy, successful relationship between parents, individuals with Down syndrome and siblings. GiGi’s Playhouse programs support families in developing high expectations for their son or daughter with Down syndrome. Many families are blindsided by a diagnosis of Down syndrome in pregnancy or at birth. GiGi’s programs aim to help parents overcome the diagnosis and maintain high expectations for their child to achieve success in social, educational and employment opportunities in the future.  Our staff and volunteers support parents in maintaining high expectations, even through challenging periods of time. By encouraging their child to follow routines and participate fully, parents take a big step in recognizing their child’s potential.

Arc/k

The Arc/k Project is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to digitally archive that which is too valuable, too important, and too unique to be lost or forgotten. We envision the creation of a sustainable archival quality process to counter the threats and destruction of treasured objects and locations due to war, iconoclastic movements, poverty, neglect, climate change and even vandalism as some conspire to rob humanity of its collective culture as well as memory. To preserve our global heritage, we seek to capture and archive culturally and historically significant objects and locations via emerging modern digital formats including 3D imaging as well as the immersive technologies of augmented and virtual realities. With a goal to achieve the highest archival quality accuracy and authenticity, we are promoting the science of photogrammetry to populate the data for our digital formats. We are now looking to collaborate with like-minded individuals, museums, organizations and academic institutions to create case studies using the photogrammetry process to digitally archive and preserve objects and locations via grants or volunteer work. Also here is Arc/k's mission statement as it's laid out in our Articles of Incorporation -- "The specific purpose of this corporation shall be to preserve cultural assets across geopolitical regions, religions, races, and political borders, and to carry on other charitable activities associated with this purpose as allowed by law."

DANCEWORKS CHICAGO INC NFP

DanceWorks Chicago is committed to build a foundation for the individual artistic growth of dancers and choreographers, providing a laboratory from which early career artists propel themselves and the art form to a new level through training, collaboration, mentorship, and performance. Our commitment is to “Community” not “Company,” the Participatory, rather than the Proprietary. And having chosen this route, we are building a more robust dance community. Led with integrity by Co-founder and Artistic Director Julie Nakagawa, DanceWorks Chicago fills a niche in the dance ecosystem investing in and shining a spotlight on the individual artists. Dancers are encouraged to explore their technical capability as well as their artistic curiosity in an individualized and deeply personal approach with the goal of nurturing passionate, articulate artists able to make meaningful contributions to the art form. Choreographically, we look to uncover new voices while also embracing opportunities to connect with more established choreographers providing mentorship and perspective for all involved. Welcoming the public to engage with the DanceWorks family to build context around the work of art is both our pleasure and our duty as a good dance citizen.

PEPY Empowering Youth

"Connecting Cambodian Youth to the skills, opportunities, and inspirations needed to reach their potential." This is the mission of PEPY Empowering Youth, a local non-profit (NGO) focused on educating and empowering youth in underserved and remote communities outside of Siem Reap city. With their team's intimate understanding of barriers affecting students' ability to move onto higher education (many team members are former beneficiaries of PEPY's projects), PEPY staff often become student's first role models while building their capacity to achieve their dreams through academic, technical, and professional training- enabling them to make changes they wish to see in their communities. Through PEPY, students' rates of moving onto higher education and obtaining skilled employment are increasing. PEPY's approach to education development is different because they focus on high school and higher education students, an age group often overlooked, while targeting remote areas where higher education is uncommon and often financially impossible. PEPY's programs are comprehensive and go beyond typical scholarship programs, guaranteeing that students graduate and all of them find jobs while they are still in school.
