Our tutoring, writing, and publishing programs prepare young people, ages 6 to 18, for a successful future by developing strong writing skills, championing diverse communication styles, and motivating young people to share their stories. Programs at each Fearless Ideas center reach into the surrounding neighborhood to involve adults and businesses in helping youth become engaged citizens and confident leaders. All programs are free and open to families from any socio-economic background.

American Friends of the Spafford Children's Center

The mission of the Spafford Children's Center (SCC) is to bring healing, hope, and prosperity to Palestinian children and their families in Jerusalem and the West Bank by offering programs and services that increase health in mind, body, and spirit. The mission of the American Friends of the Spafford Children's Center Fund (AFSCCF) is to support the SCC by raising funds in the United States. AFSCCF activities are implemented by a volunteer board of directors. AFSCCF pays no staff salaries and no overhead so that all funds, minus direct expenses like printing and postage, can be sent to SCC.

To bring top emerging and established professional musicians together in order to share the inspirational, therapeutic, and uplifting power of music with New York City’s disenfranchised homeless shelter population. I believe a shelter exists to provide not only physical but emotional and spiritual support to those who, for whatever reason, have lost the foundation of their homes and communities. I believe that music reaches the core of our being and can play a vital role in nourishing hope, love and strength, particularly when performed at an extremely high artistic level and in a friendly, relaxed setting.

Mission: Stronger libraries for stronger communities Vision: As an influential voice for libraries, we will ensure the Saint Paul Public Library and libraries in Minnesota, nationally and internationally are vital centers of engaged, educated and diverse communities. Through this work, The Friends serves as a national model for its unique, comprehensive support of the Saint Paul Public Library. The Friends has a nonprofit consulting group, Library Strategies, that provides services to libraries and library organizations across the country and internationally. The Friends also leads the Minnesota Book Awards and, because of its statewide, year-round outreach promoting literacy, reading and writing, serves as the Minnesota Center for the Book—the state affiliate of the National Center for the Book at the Library of Congress. The Friends is the only library support organization in the country to be honored with this designation.
