Sonorous Road Repertory

With a deep commitment to meaningful storytelling, Sonorous Road Repertory Company creates artistic experiences that resonate with audiences, invigorate artists, and grapple with today's issues. We strive to advocate for theatre as an indispensable cultural force that can bring clarity and nuance to the public dialogue. We believe theatre can and should ask thought provoking questions that contribute to positive public dialogue and eventual change toward a freer, more open community. These presentations can provide a positive environment for the intelligent, honest exchange of ideas while dealing with the realities of those who live in the greater Triangle area. We believe that by grappling with the issues of today we can secure a more thoughtful, caring future for ourselves and others.

Independent Shakespeare Company

ISC serves our community through creating inspiring, accessible theater and bringing it to as wide an audience as possible. Our actions and our art are informed by the following beliefs: • Classic plays are our cultural legacy and, like all great art, they are a vital part of forming bonds both within our community as well as to the past. • Diversity within the production, as well as in the audience, creates stronger, more entertaining theatrical experiences. • The audience’s understanding and enjoyment of the theater experience is of paramount importance. • Great writing and skillful performances take precedence over the technical elements of contemporary theatre. • Dynamic speaking and innovative staging are the primary means of engaging the audience’s imagination. • Productions of classical plays should be readily available to all. • There is no greater cause than to expand current audiences and create future ones.

Shaker Historical Society

We inspire people to engage in and celebrate the Shaker Heights story and its impact on the region...past, present, and future. We welcome visitors from around the world who seek to learn about the Shakers of North Union, the garden city suburb developed by the Van Sweringens and the early peaceful racial integration of the city from 1957. We produce permanent and temporary historical exhibits in our 1910 residence, one of the first houses built as part of the new Shaker Village. Our Lissauer Art Gallery features art produced by Northeast Ohio artists. Our Elizabeth Nord Research Library is open by appointment. We are also part of the Ohio History Connection as well as being one of the few Shaker communities open to the public on the National Parks Service's Shaker Trail.

Center For Black Excellence And Culture

While Madison’s racial disparities are well documented, many people don’t realize this tale of two cities isn’t just keeping Black people from moving here. It’s also causing Madison-born children to leave for cities where they see opportunities to build wealth, to access Black culture and to feel appreciated within their communities. There’s an immeasurable cost to this exodus of promising young Black people.Imagine the impact on our community if we could keep Black talent in Madison and nurture and develop these future Black leaders. Imagine the Black voices we could amplify and the Black experiences we could share if we had the right space. Imagine how all of us would benefit if we worked together to change the trajectory of Madison’s Black community.
