Founded in 1976, the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) collects and preserves art and artifacts and, through exhibitions and programs, interprets the history and stories of African Americans and those of the African Diaspora. AAMP enriches the lives of all visitors, especially children and youth, using education to empower them through experiences that will enlighten them culturally and intellectually. It is a gathering place for the community, a forum for broader community engagement and a partner for collaborations with historical and cultural institutions.

The objectives of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution are promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. We accomplish our mission through over 2,700 chapters in the US and twelve foreign countries. Our Americana Collection houses over 5,000 documents focusing on early America. The DAR Library includes 160,000 volumes of genealogical information. The DAR Museum, which is free and open to the public, is home to a collection of over 30,000 objects and 31 Period Rooms prior to 1840.

The mission of the Black American West Museum & Heritage Center is to promote an understanding of the role that African Americans played in the settlement and growth of the western United States through its collections, programs and exhibits.

Located in one of the last orchards in the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (as Silicon Valley was called when it led world agriculture, as we do today in technology), the Los Altos History Museum is a cultural oasis with a historic house and state-of-the-art museum surrounded by lush gardens, just one block from historic downtown Los Altos, California. Over 21,000 people a year find their way to this top-rated local history museum for its superior permanent exhibits, innovative programs, fun special events, curriculum-based school tours and a dynamic schedule of award-winning changing exhibits. The Museum provides educational opportunities for visitors of all ages to learn about the community via interactive exhibits and hands-on activities aligned with Museum objectives. Guests enjoy orchardist J. Gilbert Smith's 1905 Craftsman house furnished in the time of the Great Depression and interactive outdoor agricultural exhibits like a restored tractor kids can climb on. Other programs include third and fourth grade curriculum tours for local school children, annual essay contest, lectures, workshops, oral history collections, a traveling Ohlone kit, and much more. Opened in 1977 as a community museum, this family-friendly place is open FREE to the public, thanks to community support, Thursday through Sunday, noon to 4pm. Come visit!

The mission of the African American Civil War Museum is to correct a great wrong in history that largely ignored the enormous contributions of the 209,145 members of the United States Colored Troops. It tells the stories and preserves for posterity the historic roles these brave men of African, European, and Hispanic descent played in ending slavery and keeping America united under one flag. The Museum uses a rich collection of artifacts, documents, primary sources and technology to create a meaningful learning experience for families, students, Civil War enthusiasts and historians about the period from the American Civil War to Civil Rights and beyond.
