Sound Aloud

Founded in 2016, Sound Aloud exists to equip this generation with the tools to find their voice (identity), release their sound (purpose), and live it ALOUD (unashamed); becoming the sound of freedom to this world. Our heart as a ministry is to use the Creative Arts (fine, performing, visual), holistic health, and mentoring/outreach programs to unleash the treasure that is buried just beneath the surface of our “generationals”. Our programs and services create positive outlets, give support, nurture dreams, send a message of hope, deal with issues that this generation face, bring cultural awareness, cross religious and cultural boundaries, provide discipleship, help build confidence, build strong self-esteem, character, and create teamwork and connection.

GiGi's Playhouse Canton

Programs at GiGi’s Playhouse offer foundational learning opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. GiGi’s Playhouse programs  are a place for parents/caregivers to share ideas and network with one another. We invite caregivers to communicate their needs, questions and concerns with one another, and promote connections to be made in support of each other. GiGi’s programs embrace the family and help aid the development of a healthy, successful relationship between parents, individuals with Down syndrome and siblings. GiGi’s Playhouse programs support families in developing high expectations for their son or daughter with Down syndrome. Many families are blindsided by a diagnosis of Down syndrome in pregnancy or at birth. GiGi’s programs aim to help parents overcome the diagnosis and maintain high expectations for their child to achieve success in social, educational and employment opportunities in the future.  Our staff and volunteers support parents in maintaining high expectations, even through challenging periods of time. By encouraging their child to follow routines and participate fully, parents take a big step in recognizing their child’s potential.

DANCEWORKS CHICAGO INC NFP

DanceWorks Chicago is committed to build a foundation for the individual artistic growth of dancers and choreographers, providing a laboratory from which early career artists propel themselves and the art form to a new level through training, collaboration, mentorship, and performance. Our commitment is to “Community” not “Company,” the Participatory, rather than the Proprietary. And having chosen this route, we are building a more robust dance community. Led with integrity by Co-founder and Artistic Director Julie Nakagawa, DanceWorks Chicago fills a niche in the dance ecosystem investing in and shining a spotlight on the individual artists. Dancers are encouraged to explore their technical capability as well as their artistic curiosity in an individualized and deeply personal approach with the goal of nurturing passionate, articulate artists able to make meaningful contributions to the art form. Choreographically, we look to uncover new voices while also embracing opportunities to connect with more established choreographers providing mentorship and perspective for all involved. Welcoming the public to engage with the DanceWorks family to build context around the work of art is both our pleasure and our duty as a good dance citizen.
