Youth Orchestras of Fresno

We are a youth music organization running three distinct but symbiotically connected programs: our youth orchestras themselves (260 participants in three orchestral ensembles rehearsing weekly and producing a minimum of five concerts per season); our FOOSA Summer Music Academy (a two-week immersive program featuring internationally acclaimed faculty from some of the best music schools in the world and offering a tour to Los Angeles to perform at Disney Hall); and our Accent on Access Violin Program (a free afterschool music program for underserved students, meeting four days a week, 90 minutes per day, emphasis on equity and inclusion). Mission and purpose: Music is life. Live big! Start young. We cultivate musical excellence and a spirit of cooperation in young musicians throughout the Central Valley. Opera Modo

Opera MODO is a new and exciting opera company in Detroit, Michigan, dedicated to creating opportunities for young and emerging artists. Founded in 2011 in Princeton, New Jersey, Opera MODO brings opera to the people through intriguing and modern productions of classical to contemporary operas. Collaborating with local performers and businesses in Detroit, Opera MODO offers an intimate experience to engage audiences through storytelling, musical integrity and innovative process. We support the future of opera by giving young, non-managed, professional singers an opportunity to gain experience. We present opera in an intimate setting allowing the audience to engage with the performers. We specialize in setting standard repertoire in new and imaginative settings, bringing new life to our favorite stories. Our team strives to balance inspiration from the composer through collaborative storytelling to enhance the experience for the audience and performers. Opera MODO is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Pasadena Master Chorale Assn

The mission of the Pasadena Master Chorale is to cultivate appreciation of classical choral music through high quality performance and education. Founded by Jeffrey Bernstein in 2008, The Pasadena Master Chorale is an auditioned community chorus presenting affordable high-quality choral concerts and educational offerings to the greater Pasadena Community. In 2017 the Pasadena Master Chorale was awarded second place in the American Prize in Choral Performance. During its decade of service to the community PMC has presented over 100 performances and enjoyed collaborations with the The Gamble House, Pasadena Playhouse, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, and The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. PMC also offers a robust education program at no cost to participating students. Each year, through its unique Listening To The Future project, PMC pairs local high school composers with a professional composer mentor for a year of study. At the end of the year PMC presents a concert of the music composed by these students.

PACIFIC POST PARTUM SUPPORT SOCIETY

The Pacific Post Partum Support Society (PPPSS) offers support to women and their families who are experiencing postpartum depression and/or anxiety (PPD/A), as well as to women who are pregnant and experiencing emotional distress. The Society's support program is based on a self-help/mutual aid model. Trained group facilitators and telephone volunteers support mothers attending PPPSS groups throughout the Lower Mainland of BC, and during public phone hours staff provide helpful information and understanding support to callers (Tel. 604-255-7999). PPPSS also offers information nights for partners; interactive talks at mother and baby groups; workshops, lectures and training programs for interested groups and professionals; and free information in print. Publications for sale dealing with PPD/A include "A Self-Help Guide for Mothers", "Un guide pratique pour les méres", "A Reference Manual for Group Facilitators", and "A Reference Manual for Telephone Support Volunteers".

Bach Beethoven & Brahms Society Of Boston

The Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms (BB&B) Society of Boston was formed in the spring of 2016 by Music Director Steven Lipsitt and the musicians of the former Boston Classical Orchestra. A new Board of Directors, led by Professor Herbert F. Voigt, Ph.D., is determined to continue a beloved and time-honored tradition of great, expertly performed orchestral concerts presented in one of America’s most historic spaces, Boston’s Faneuil Hall. Following debut concerts in March and April of 2016, and thanks to the generosity and loyalty of supporters, BB&B presented a full 2016 – 2017 season of subscription concerts to excited, enthusiastic audiences. Sharing the stunning musical virtuosity of its own professional musicians, world-class guest soloists, and a level of quality that has been the hallmark of concerts in its Faneuil Hall home for many years, BB&B renewed old friendships and developed new ones, laying the groundwork for a bright future as Boston’s newest professional orchestra.

GiGi's Playhouse Canton

Programs at GiGi’s Playhouse offer foundational learning opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. GiGi’s Playhouse programs  are a place for parents/caregivers to share ideas and network with one another. We invite caregivers to communicate their needs, questions and concerns with one another, and promote connections to be made in support of each other. GiGi’s programs embrace the family and help aid the development of a healthy, successful relationship between parents, individuals with Down syndrome and siblings. GiGi’s Playhouse programs support families in developing high expectations for their son or daughter with Down syndrome. Many families are blindsided by a diagnosis of Down syndrome in pregnancy or at birth. GiGi’s programs aim to help parents overcome the diagnosis and maintain high expectations for their child to achieve success in social, educational and employment opportunities in the future.  Our staff and volunteers support parents in maintaining high expectations, even through challenging periods of time. By encouraging their child to follow routines and participate fully, parents take a big step in recognizing their child’s potential.

COLLEGE-MONTROSE CHILDREN'S PLACE

Since 1983 Children's Place has offered a wide range of flexible, accessible, FREE early learning & family support programs. Today we serve over 2000 families from 11 different locations in central west Toronto. Programs include: family drop-ins, child development activities focusing on & exploring senses & developing motor skills, occasional childcare, community outreach, family literacy, food & nutrition support, parent & caregiver support & education, peer contact & mutual support, play & recreation, health & safety promotion, information about & referrals to other resources, toy & book lending. Our staff and volunteers are able to communicate in different languages including English, Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Somali, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu & Italian. Participants include: young children 0 to 6, parents, expectant parents, very young parents, parents/caregivers/children with special needs, grandparents, nannies & home providers, newcomer & immigrant families.

Charleston Music Festival and School

Founded in 2010, the Charleston International Music School (CIMS) provides excellence in performing arts education here in the Low Country, as well as on a national and global level. Students from around the world are coached by CIMS' international faculty in solo and chamber music performance, as well as music theory, choir, and ear training. CIMS' hallmark is the powerful sense of connection and enthusiasm that it fosters in both students and faculty alike. Students work and perform with musicians of different backgrounds and nationalities, learning to communicate through their music-making. This intensive program creates the best conditions for gifted young musicians to flourish. Our programs are tailored to each student’s level and development, including private lessons, music theory, ear training, chamber music, choir, master classes with CIMS faculty and visiting artists, as well as extracurricular seminars. Throughout our two week Summer festival, students perform at various venues including historical sites in downtown Charleston. Local students study privately with CIMS Faculty, and participate in masterclasses and recitals year round. All CIMS concerts are open to the public and free of charge.

Storycatchers Theatre

Storycatchers Theatre guides young people to transform their traumatic experiences into powerful musical theatre, inspiring them to develop the courage and vision to become leaders and mentors. By creating support for youth within the criminal justice system, Storycatchers prepares them to change their lives and emerge successfully from court involvement. Storycatchers was founded in 1984 to create and perform original musicals inspired by the stories of middle and high school students. In 1990, the company began developing its immersive residential program model for system-impacted youth at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. It was at this time that the methodology expanded to incorporate the youth into the full process of writing and performing as a way to explore and begin to move beyond past trauma. Storycatchers initiated a remarkable partnership with the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice in 2002 when the company moved into the Illinois Youth Center-Warrenville, where Storycatchers established its nationally recognized, award-winning process of delivering creative youth development programs through a trauma lens. Storycatchers has been conducting year-round residential programs in three separate facilities since 2010. In 2014, the company expanded into post-release support with the Changing Voices performing arts jobs program for young people ages 17-24 returning to Chicago.Storycatchers amplifies and elevates the voices of youth impacted by the carceral state, empowering them to envision and pursue productive post-release futures of their choosing.

Navarasa Dance Theater

We believe that the performing arts are a source of inspiration for society, a means of expression and an integral part of every person's life. Art is not just a pastime of the privileged; it is a necessity for all. Furthermore, Navarasa Dance Theater believes that art is an effective and powerful medium to create awareness and to mobilize people for positive social change. Navarasa works with all forms of arts to create social justice awareness and to empower people, especially people of color and people from low-income communities. Navarasa Dance Theater offers classes in Bharatanatyam Classical Dance, Kalari ppayattu Martial Arts, Yoga (in-studio and online); as well as workshops in Aerial dance Mallakhamb rope and pole, Ways of Expression (Story telling through your body), Physical Theater for Emotional Expression, Contemporary Dance in a multi-cultural world, Acting for Dancers, Movement for Actors, and Voice. Navarasa's Dance for Everyone program offers free training and scholarships in performing arts for low-income students of dance and martial arts, with programs in Kerala, India; Boston, MA and Los Angeles, CA. Navarasa's touring dance theater company has performed in Asia, North America and Europe for almost 20 years.

Fiasco Theater

FIASCO THEATER is an ensemble theater company created by graduates of the Brown University/Trinity Rep M.F.A. acting program. Past shows include Cymbeline (TFANA/Barrow Street), Into the Woods (Roundabout, Old Globe, McCarter), Measure for Measure (New Victory), The Two Gentlemen of Verona (Folger/TFANA) and Twelfth Night. Cymbeline was presented Off-Broadway twice, for nearly 200 performances, and was honored with the 2012 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for best revival. Into the Woods garnered the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Revival. Every year, Fiasco offers the Free Training Initiative—a three-week, conservatory-level classical acting intensive for professional actors, completely free of charge to students. Fiasco has been in residence with Duke University, Marquette University, LSU, and NYU-Gallatin. Their work has been developed at the Sundance Theatre Lab, the Orchard Project, SPACE at Ryder Farm (upcoming) and the Shakespeare Society, and Fiasco has led master classes at Brown University and NYU. OUR MISSION The mission of Fiasco Theater is to offer dynamic, joyful, actor-driven productions of classic and new plays, and to offer high-level theatrical training through classes and workshops. Our goal is to create a new model of fiscal sustainability whereby we remunerate our artists for their valuable work and offer our performances and training at low or no cost to our audiences and students. WHO WE ARE: We are a team of classically trained actors with a common aesthetic vision and a passion for teaching acting. We choose to work as an ensemble because we believe this allows us the possibility to create something greater than the sum of its parts. WHAT WE BELIEVE: The artists at Fiasco believe that thrilling theater is invented through dynamic rehearsal – exploring the play in a full, open, joyful way through the voice, body, and imagination. We believe the performer, the text and the audience are the only elements required to make great theater. These principles of the power of rehearsal inspire both the creation of our performances and the training of our students. A NEW FISCAL MODEL We believe that theater is a societal foundation. It brings communities together, teaches empathy and has the power to inspire, galvanize and heal people. It’s vibrancy is necessary for the health of a culture, and shouldn’t be a luxury only accessible to the wealthy. We also believe that people who choose to create art for a living should be able to make a living doing so and shouldn’t have to choose between creating art and a living wage. But the current producing wisdom demands that wages be kept low to minimize costs while ticket prices are raised to maximize the potential for profit. It is a wisdom that hurts artists and audience alike. Fiasco’s mission is to invert that equation: we seek to offer art to the public at affordable prices while paying the artists who create it a living wage. We do so by enlisting the generosity of donors, corporations and foundations in support of artist salaries and subsidized ticket prices. WHY FIASCO? Legend has it the word “fiasco” was first used to describe commedia dell’arte performances that went horribly (and hilariously) wrong. In those instances the performer would have to fare fiasco or “make a bottle.” In other words “You’re buying!” While we hope to avoid on-stage disasters, we do believe that it is only when artists are brave enough to risk a fiasco that the possibility exists of creating something special. We chose the name Fiasco to remind ourselves to brave the huge leaps in the hopes of reaping huge artistic rewards.

La Mama Experimental Theatre Club

La MaMa is dedicated to the artist and all aspects of the theatre. It has a worldwide reputation for producing daring work in theatre, dance, performance art, and music that defies form and transcends boundaries of language, race, and culture. Founded in 1961 by theatre pioneer and legend Ellen Stewart, La MaMa is a vital part of the fabric of cultural life in NYC and the anchor of FAB (Fourth Arts Block). In the 1960's, Ms. Stewart, one of the first black fashion designers in New York, worked as the executive designer for Saks Fifth Avenue and was undoubtedly a trendsetter. She began La MaMa with the belief that art, in order to flourish, needs: fiscal support, the company of colleagues, the spirit of collaboration and a public forum in which to be evaluated. The original house of La MaMa sat 30 people, and the stage was the size of a bed. Today, La MaMa is a four-building campus with three theaters, an art gallery, an art and technology studio, rehearsal studios, a dormitory, offices, and an extensive archive documenting the history of Off-Off-Broadway. La MaMa produces approximately 70 productions annually, most of which are world premieres. To date, more than 3,500 productions have been presented at La MaMa with 150,000 artists from more than 70 nations. La MaMa's programming is culturally diverse, cross-disciplinary and draws audiences from all walks of life. In addition to affordable ticket prices, La MaMa distributes up to 8,000 free tickets annually to social service and education organizations. Annual visitors exceed 32,000 people from New York and beyond. Each year, La MaMa provides employment opportunities for more than 260 artists and administrators including performers, writers, composers, directors, choreographers, musicians, designers and educators. La MaMa is a think tank and an experimental forum where artists at various stages of their career and creative development come to take risks. Much of the work done here allows the artistic experimenter to take the lessons learned and capitalize on them elsewhere, thus influencing much of what is eventually seen in commercial theater and the entertainment industry at large. In addition, La MaMa provides people of all ages and backgrounds with an opportunity to explore the arts in various capacities - as a member of the audience, the creative team, production crew or cast. "A home to, and champion of, brash and venturesome artists!" - New York Times Countless American artists have worked at La MaMa during the early stages of their careers, including: Blue Man Group, Steve Buscemi, Robert DeNiro, Andre DeShields, Danny DeVito, Olympia Dukakis, Harvey Fierstein, Philip Glass, Bill Irwin, Diane Lane, Bette Midler, Meredith Monk, Estelle Parsons, Sam Shepard, Patti Smith, Elizabeth Swados, Julie Taymor, Andy Warhol, Lanford Wilson, Robert Wilson, Scott Wittman and Joel Zwick. New Eastern European Theatre was introduced to America in 1967 when La MaMa brought Ryszard Cieslak, Ludwig Flaszen, and Jerry Grotowski to New York. Other international artists whose work premiered at La MaMa include Ivica Buljan, Peter Brooke, Tadeusz Kantor, Kazuo Ohno, Andrei Serban, Shuji Teriyama, and Ahmed Yacoubi. La MaMa has received more than 30 Obie Awards, dozens of Drama Desk and Bessie Awards. Recent significant premieres include: The Foundry Theatre's GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN; Belarus Free Theatre's BEING HAROLD PINTER (Obie Award); Lee Breuer's LA DIVINA CARICATURA; and SOULOGRAPHIE: OUR GENOCIDES by Eric Ehn.
