Artists for Literacy

Artists for Literacy: AFL’s mission is to influence community, public, and private sector support for literacy. We engage artists in the issue of literacy and channel their contributions into effective awareness and education tools. We advocate for literacy as defined by the capacity to understand, interpret and communicate effectively in order to participate in one's community and wider society. This includes our commitment to advocating life-long learning, reading comprehension, media literacy, health literacy and financial literacy. Arresting Knowledge is our current project.

Theatre Esprit Asia Inc

A. Give voice to Asian American narratives that address the contemporary human condition in areas of love, family, identity and immigration issues of racism, sexism, classism and cultural assimilation. ​B. Provide performance opportunities and nurture the growth of Colorado and US Asian American actors, directors and playwrights. ​C. Promote community and understanding amongst the Asian American sectors and between it and other indigenous groups through theatre productions and other shared projects, particularly in areas of education and social justice.

Treasure Valley Institute For Childrens Arts

Celebrating its 25th year, the Treasure Valley Institute for Children’s Arts (TRICA) provides meaningful, world-class experiences in the arts taught by outstanding and loving Educators, inspiring children to develop values and attitudes for a stronger sense of Humanity, Community and Good Will. Our programs for children Ages 2-12 include Summer Dance Camps, After School with TRICA, Family Dance Night, world-class arts instruction for young learners and exciting enrichment in preschools and schools across the Treasure Valley. In 2019, Jon Swarthout & TRICA received a “2019 Good Neighbor Award” from the Boise Mayor and TRICA was designated as a “2020 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by The Great Nonprofits organization. The construction project underway in Boise’s Hyde Park district is an adaptive reuse transforming an abandoned cathedral into a children’s arts institute. By the end of October 2020 the project had gained its unanimous approval (Conditional Use Permit) from City of Boise Planning & Zoning and Boise City Council to become a private children’s arts school. The approved permit allows cultural and social events to be held annually as an accessory function to the church and school.

INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR CONTEMPORARY MUSIC

Founded in 2010, The International Foundation for Contemporary Music' mission is to support the creation, performance, and education of contemporary music around the world. In the beginning, this mission focused on producing the Cortona Sessions for New Music, which has evolved into one of the world's premiere summer training festivals for contemporary music. In the years since, the IFCM's mission has expanded to supporting innovative projects from a variety of performers and composers, and now, with the purchase of the IFCM's new home at the Hammert Building, to creating an exciting new concerts series for the community of Eudora, KS called Concerts @ the Hammert.

THE FRIENDS OF ALGONQUIN PARK

The Friends of Algonquin Park was established in 1983 as a non profit registered charity. The Friends operate as a cooperating association under an agreement with the Ontario Parks to enhance the educational and interpretive programs in Algonquin Park. This is accomplished by developing and reprinting Park-related publications, and funding Park projects through the proceeds from sales at The Friends' two bookstores in the Park, private donations, and various fundraising efforts. The activities of The Friends of Algonquin are coordinated by a volunteer Board of Directors who reside in different parts of Ontario. Since its establishment, The Friends has grown to a membership of over 3000 people, and continues to attract support from around the world.

Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra

The Gulf Coast Symphony creates community through music. We perform a broad variety of concerts and create a diverse, innovative, and balanced program of performances, events, and community and education projects that reaches the widest possible public. The primary goals of the Gulf Coast Symphony are to help build general arts awareness in Lee County, develop new audiences for the arts in our community, and assist in the development of potential future performers. The GCS's volunteer musicians have 1 thing in common: creating exceptional symphonic music for their community. Many are retired or current professional players or music teachers, or highly trained musicians who focus on other fields. The musicians donate more than 15,000 hrs/year.

The Theatre Within

Theatre Within provides ongoing free workshops in creative expression and mindfulness to communities in need.  We provide workshops in songwriting, art, meditation and much more for those impacted by cancer. Since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, we have provided over 700 workshops for children who have lost a parent to cancer, adult cancer patients, survivors and their family members. In addition, we provide the John Lennon Real Love Project songwriting program to elementary and middle schools. Since the program's launch in June 2021 we have brought the program to 16 schools. Since 1981, we have celebrated John Lennon’s music, life and timeless message of peace, love and racial/gender equality with our Annual John Lennon Tribute charity concert in NYC.

Cappella Clausura

Come see Ethel Smyth's Mass in D in collaboration with SHIFT Orchestra Project on March 3rd @ 4 π About Us: Cappella Clausura was founded by Amelia LeClair in 2004 to research, study and perform the music of women composers. Our twin goals are to bring engaging performances of this music to today's audiences, and to help bring women composers into the classical canon. Our repertoire extends from the earliest known music by women, written in the middle ages, to the music of our own time. The core of the vocal ensemble is a group of eight-to-twelve singers who perform a cappella, with continuo, and with chamber orchestra, as the repertoire requires. Our singers and period players are accomplished professionals who perform widely as soloists and ensemble musicians in Greater Boston and beyond.

Pasadena Master Chorale Assn

The mission of the Pasadena Master Chorale is to cultivate appreciation of classical choral music through high quality performance and education. Founded by Jeffrey Bernstein in 2008, The Pasadena Master Chorale is an auditioned community chorus presenting affordable high-quality choral concerts and educational offerings to the greater Pasadena Community. In 2017 the Pasadena Master Chorale was awarded second place in the American Prize in Choral Performance. During its decade of service to the community PMC has presented over 100 performances and enjoyed collaborations with the The Gamble House, Pasadena Playhouse, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, and The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. PMC also offers a robust education program at no cost to participating students. Each year, through its unique Listening To The Future project, PMC pairs local high school composers with a professional composer mentor for a year of study. At the end of the year PMC presents a concert of the music composed by these students.

Enacte Arts

EnActe Arts is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which produces contemporary theatrical projects that explore multicultural issues with particular reference to the South Asian Diaspora and provides education programs to foster performing Arts talent in the community. Our mission is three-fold: To bring quality South Asian themed stories to universal audiences. To offer a talent development platform where theatre professionals work with aspiring amateurs to foster the growth of local performing talents. We place a particular emphasis on producing new works by upcoming playwrights. To offer theatre education programs in acting, stage design and management and script-writing. EnActe believes in collaboration with other performing arts organizations, corporations, and universities to foster arts in the community. EnActe has produced shows in various cities including Houston, San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Exeter and Seattle. Many of these productions have led us to partnerships with distinguished universities and arts organizations such as Emerson Arts College, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, Asian Art Museum (SF), Philips Exeter Academy, The Menil Collection (Houston), Seattle Asian Art Museum. In order to bring unique stories to a wide audience, we seek your support as a corporate sponsor. Institute For Young Dramatic Voices

For some time now, we have been hearing cries of alarm about a ‘shortage’ of voices suited to opera’s dramatic repertoire, as if these voices are disappearing from the earth. It is certainly not the case that these voices do not exist in nature. They do. What is lacking in our fast-paced world is the time and the care and specifically tailored instruction at an early age that it takes to develop any natural voice into a healthy, expressive, and durable operatic instrument. These instruments when properly developed can last over a career of 40 years or more. This is particularly true of voices that have the potential to develop into the dramatic repertoire of Strauss, Wagner, and Verdi. Dolora Zajick’s Institute is distinguished by the principle of recognizing dramatic voices at an early age and offering them collaborative teaching and guidance by offering collaborative instruction and guidance from respected and experienced professionals who work in major opera houses and understand what these houses are really looking for in professional singers. Zajick’s own instrument took time and care to develop and it continues decades later to thrill audiences the world over. Passing on what she has learned over the course of her great career is now her guiding passion. Established in 2006, the Institute has an innovative approach. An impressively credentialed faculty works in close collaboration with the students and with each other to provide a solid foundation of skills. The program recognizes six levels of development: Opera Discovery (15–17), Introductory (18–22), Intermediate (18–26), Emerging Artists (24–34), Young Professionals (27–36), and the American Wagner Project (no age limit). Instruction is specifically tailored to the level of the singer, and at all levels the goal is to ‘get the whole voice rolling’ as Zajick says, as well as forming the whole singer and artist through a program of voice lessons, music fundamentals, Italian, German and English diction, acting, fitness, and professionalism. The program culminates in a final concert of opera scenes. Graduates of the Institute are already finding their place in the training programs and on the stages of the world’s opera houses. Faculty members are chosen for their expertise and experience in opera, but also for their understanding of the particular development of dramatic voices. All students will have the opportunity to receive private and class instruction from such notable professionals as Dolora Zajick, Luana DeVol, John Parr (Deutscheoper Berlin), Beatrice Benzi (la Scala), Marianne Barrett (Metropolitan Opera), Yelena Kurdina (Metropolitan Opera), Fabio Sparvoli, and John Treleaven.

Fiasco Theater

FIASCO THEATER is an ensemble theater company created by graduates of the Brown University/Trinity Rep M.F.A. acting program. Past shows include Cymbeline (TFANA/Barrow Street), Into the Woods (Roundabout, Old Globe, McCarter), Measure for Measure (New Victory), The Two Gentlemen of Verona (Folger/TFANA) and Twelfth Night. Cymbeline was presented Off-Broadway twice, for nearly 200 performances, and was honored with the 2012 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for best revival. Into the Woods garnered the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Revival. Every year, Fiasco offers the Free Training Initiative—a three-week, conservatory-level classical acting intensive for professional actors, completely free of charge to students. Fiasco has been in residence with Duke University, Marquette University, LSU, and NYU-Gallatin. Their work has been developed at the Sundance Theatre Lab, the Orchard Project, SPACE at Ryder Farm (upcoming) and the Shakespeare Society, and Fiasco has led master classes at Brown University and NYU. OUR MISSION The mission of Fiasco Theater is to offer dynamic, joyful, actor-driven productions of classic and new plays, and to offer high-level theatrical training through classes and workshops. Our goal is to create a new model of fiscal sustainability whereby we remunerate our artists for their valuable work and offer our performances and training at low or no cost to our audiences and students. WHO WE ARE: We are a team of classically trained actors with a common aesthetic vision and a passion for teaching acting. We choose to work as an ensemble because we believe this allows us the possibility to create something greater than the sum of its parts. WHAT WE BELIEVE: The artists at Fiasco believe that thrilling theater is invented through dynamic rehearsal – exploring the play in a full, open, joyful way through the voice, body, and imagination. We believe the performer, the text and the audience are the only elements required to make great theater. These principles of the power of rehearsal inspire both the creation of our performances and the training of our students. A NEW FISCAL MODEL We believe that theater is a societal foundation. It brings communities together, teaches empathy and has the power to inspire, galvanize and heal people. It’s vibrancy is necessary for the health of a culture, and shouldn’t be a luxury only accessible to the wealthy. We also believe that people who choose to create art for a living should be able to make a living doing so and shouldn’t have to choose between creating art and a living wage. But the current producing wisdom demands that wages be kept low to minimize costs while ticket prices are raised to maximize the potential for profit. It is a wisdom that hurts artists and audience alike. Fiasco’s mission is to invert that equation: we seek to offer art to the public at affordable prices while paying the artists who create it a living wage. We do so by enlisting the generosity of donors, corporations and foundations in support of artist salaries and subsidized ticket prices. WHY FIASCO? Legend has it the word “fiasco” was first used to describe commedia dell’arte performances that went horribly (and hilariously) wrong. In those instances the performer would have to fare fiasco or “make a bottle.” In other words “You’re buying!” While we hope to avoid on-stage disasters, we do believe that it is only when artists are brave enough to risk a fiasco that the possibility exists of creating something special. We chose the name Fiasco to remind ourselves to brave the huge leaps in the hopes of reaping huge artistic rewards.
