Our mission at WCOM is to educate, inspire, and entertain the diverse populations of Carrboro, Chapel Hill and nearby areas. We cultivate local music and facilitate the exchange of cultural and intellectual ideas, with particular regard for those who are overlooked or under-represented by other media outlets. We provide a space for media access and education by providing equipment and training to our community.

The mission of the Center for Investigative Reporting, the nation's oldest nonprofit producer of investigative reporting, is to inform the public and hold the powerful accountable, providing citizens with the information they need to participate in the democratic process.  CIR produces multimedia reporting on important topics, from the environment to human rights to government accountability and transparency, and distributes them locally, regionally, nationally and internationally for maximum impact.

The San Francisco Green Film Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to screening compelling environmental films; connecting you to filmmakers & experts; and sparking green ideas & actions. As the leading movement for films and conversations about people and the planet, our mission is to educate and connect communities through forward-thinking programs of environmental films, dialogues, and action opportunities.

StoryCorps’ mission is to preserve and share humanity’s stories to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world. We do this to remind one another of our shared humanity, to strengthen and build connections between people, to teach the value of listening, and to weave into the fabric of our culture the understanding that everyone’s story matters. At the same time we are creating an invaluable archive for future generations.

WHRO will meet the educational, informational and cultural needs of the people of Southeastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina through non-commercial broadcasting and educational telecommunications technologies and services, thereby improving and enriching the quality of life for people of the region. Consistent with this mission and its tradition, WHRO will continue to explore, research, demonstrate, create and distribute software (programming) and train others in its application to learning and public service.

Mongabay.org’s mission is to raise awareness about social and environmental issues relating to tropical forests and other ecosystems, to wildlife, and to the important role that natural ecosystems play in maintaining critical services, including stabilizing the global climate system. To achieve this, Mongabay.org creates educational materials in several languages and provide opportunities for science journalists to report on environmental issues through well-established on-line platforms. 

The mission of c3 is to utilize the power of media, arts and story to add in the evolution of humanity on a personal, social and global level. We work to create a better future by supporting and empowering the creative community through education in media tech literacy, and also support the creation and presentation of transformational content in all media platforms, including traditional and emerging media technologies such as fulldome, VR, AR, etc.

The mission of Southern California Public Radio is to strengthen the civic and cultural bonds that unite Southern California"s diverse communities by providing the highest quality news and information service through radio and other interactive media. SCPR is a public forum that engages its audiences in an ongoing dialogue and exploration of issues, events and cultures in the region and the world, seeking to provide greater understanding and new perspectives to the people of these communities and their leaders

Newark Community Radio Inc is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) educational broadcast service. Our mission is: 1) To give the residents of greater Newark the opportunity to write, record, and broadcast stories about their lives, experiences, businesses, research, charities, organizations, events, and activities. 2) To promote science, technology, engineering, and math as fascinating fields of study and employment. 3) To develop the arts of broadcast journalism and storytelling.

In addition, Democracy Now! hosts real debates–debates between people who substantially disagree, such as between the White House or the Pentagon spokespeople on the one hand, and grassroots activists on the other.

The mission of the Education Writers Association is to increase the quality and quantity of education coverage to create a better-informed society. As the professional organization of members of the media who cover education at all levels, EWA has worked for more than 65 years to help journalists get the story right. Today, EWA has more than 3,000 members benefiting from our high-quality programs, training, information, support, and recognition.
