Future Now Media Foundation

Future Now Media Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 educational nonprofit whose mission is to engage, mentor, train and connect college and graduate students to become future leaders in the media industry. As a leadership incubator in media and entertainment, our goal is to raise up the best and brightest future leaders in business, tech, content creation, journalism, and the creative arts. FUTURE NOW's programming and events brings together college and graduate students who are serious about pursuing careers in the media and entertainment field with today's top executives, thought leaders and professionals to connect, network and be mentored by them.

Today Sesame Workshop is a global educational force for change, with a mission to reach the world's most vulnerable children. We're active in more than 150 countries, serving kids through a wide range of media and philanthropically-funded social impact programs, all grounded in rigorous research and individually tailored to the needs and cultures of the communities we serve. Project Twenty1

Project Twenty1 has an EPIC mission. We Educate, Promote, Inspire, and Connect creatives through film and animation programs in the Greater Philadelphia area that attract participants from all over the world. We help turn artistic passions into careers. We help unite the world of independent artists, allow them direct paths to their audiences, and at the same time build the cultural and artistic scene in Philadelphia and beyond. We create a network of support, promotion, and distribution through which motivated filmmakers and artists can get their work seen internationally. And in the process, we witness the birth of exciting new creative relationships and truly original, entertaining films.

Society Of Environmental Journalists

Mission: The mission of the Society of Environmental Journalists is to strengthen the quality, reach and viability of journalism across all media to advance public understanding of environmental issues. Objectives: SEJ provides critical support to journalists of all media in their efforts to cover complex issues of the environment responsibly. SEJ addresses its mission and vision through effective programs designed by and for journalists who produce environmental coverage. Benefits and opportunities of programs and membership will be extended to journalists on varied beats, to students and all those who will be expanding and defining the field in years to come. SEJ is constantly developing new initiatives to: - educate on emerging issues and beat basics; - protect freedom of information on environment-related issues; - build bridges between scientists and journalists; - foster peer communication and networks of credible sources; - provide recognition of excellence and support for media projects; and - provide vision and leadership for the field through creative projects and strategic partnerships. Activities: Through combined efforts of board, staff, members and appropriate partners, the Society of Environmental Journalists offers unique educational programs and services, primarily for professional journalists, educators and students, including annual and regional conferences, tours, meet-ups and training events; daily EJToday headlines and summaries, with supporting links; Twitter feed from @SEJorg; weekly SEJournal, TipSheet and other publications; Freedom of Information WatchDog project; SEJ Awards for Reporting on the Environment; mini grants through the Fund for Environmental Journalism; members-only listservs; mentoring program; website-based resources; and a lively membership network of journalists and academics. SEJ also acts to raise awareness among philanthropists, editors, news managers, publishers, and other key decision-makers in the media on the value and importance of environmental news reporting. Non-members are welcome to participate in SEJ programs, especially the annual conference. In the spirit of promoting government transparency, an informed democratic process, and press freedoms, SEJ strives to hold its own actions as a model of transparency. To that end, it is SEJ policy for all SEJ events, educational programs, services and other activities to be held on the record. Events or conference sessions held solely to facilitate story or book idea pitching to editors and/or publishers are excepted from this policy. Any additional proposed exceptions must receive approval from the Executive Committee of the SEJ Board of Directors. Exceptions to this policy granted by the SEJ Board and the terms of information use must be disclosed clearly to event speakers and attendees as soon as possible.

Baron Jay Foundation

The Baron Jay Family Foundation is a 501(c)(3) federally tax exempt nonprofit organization that was legally incorporated in 2004. We are committed to promoting health awareness, relationship guidance, employment preparedness arts education, and financial literacy in economically distressed and underserved communities. We host workshops and programs for at-risk youth that prepare them to become responsible, civic-minded, respectful, and productive citizens. We also sponsor free training programs in computer skills training and English literacy to local communities in underdeveloped regions of the world such as West Central Africa. One of our main goals is to increase digital literacy through computer skill development in poverty stricken communities. All of our workshops are designed to give our beneficiaries practical life-skills that promote self-esteem, empathy, stress reduction, anger management, academic improvement, and civic leadership. Vision Our vision is to become a leader in helping low-income people “at risk” for poverty, despair, and violence overcome these challenges so that they not only uplift themselves, but also lend a helping hand to others. Mission The Baron Jay Family Foundation is a global nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of life of people in living in underserved communities worldwide. Our mission is to motivate and empower economically disadvantaged individuals — especially youth — to become productive and contributing members of society by providing: • Life skills education in healthy habits and harmonious relationships. • Culturally enriching experiences that promote self-esteem, good citizenship, leadership qualities, and empathy for others. • Extracurricular workshops in job preparedness, computer training, and financial literacy to help reduce the achievement gap and the global digital divide.

Naturestage

Naturestage was founded on the fervent belief that the performing arts can and must serve a central role in reconnecting people with nature and celebrating the intricate interdependence that sustains our planet. We create films, photography exhibits and stage multimedia theatrical concerts to inspire a sense of awe and wonder about the natural world, and build empathy and understanding for other species through the arts and documentary storytelling. Although our work began with live performance we quickly realized that social and attitudinal change comes with reaching more people and that films were the most potent way to do this. The core of our mission is to create a new sense of true kinship with other species alongside us on the planet, and access the wisdom we all have that is often unleashed through the emotional and metaphorical power of the arts.

Boulder Community Broadcast Association

Mission statement KGNU is an independent, noncommercial community radio station licensed in Boulder and Denver and dedicated to serving its listeners. We seek to stimulate, educate and entertain our audience, to reflect the diversity of the local and world community, and to provide a channel for individuals, groups, issues and music that have been overlooked, suppressed or under-represented by other media. The station seeks to expand the listening audience through the excellence of its programming without compromising the principles stated here. Organization KGNU depends on community volunteers, coordinated by paid staff,to produce quality programming. It relies on its audience for financial support. The Board of Directors of the Boulder Community Broadcast Association, Inc., is the licensee and is legally responsible for the conduct of station activities. The Board hires a manager who is responsible for managing the station and hiring other staff. The Board, Staff and Volunteers are committed to collaborating with each other.

Health Communication Research Institute

Our mission is to enhance doctor/patient communication, specifically in end-of-life conversations; strengthen patient-centered healthcare; and to reduce health and healthcare disparities with a focus on chronically and terminally ill homeless individuals. In 2015, HCRI, Inc. began a new journey – to create a hospice house for the terminally ill homeless in Sacramento, CA – Joshua’s House – in memory of a young man, Joshua Lee (1980-2014), who had a vision of preventing those homeless men and women who were seriously and terminally ill from dying alone, scared and in pain on the streets or along the rivers of our community. We are using a community-based approach with an Advisory Board comprised of representatives from local hospitals; hospice programs; California State University, Sacramento; University of California, Davis, School of Medicine and School of Nursing; organizations that focus on housing for the homeless; medical clinics; as well as the homeless community.

WPKN’s MISSION STATEMENT WPKN’s purpose is to provide a high quality, community-oriented broadcast service to the people of Southern Conn, New York’s Suffolk County and Berkshirefoothills: providing a full-time schedule of music and culture, news and information; promoting awareness and discussion of local issues and activities; promoting awareness and discussion of global issues and culture; presenting artistic, cultural, and political perspectives which are underrepresented in mainstream media; promoting acceptance, understanding, and cooperation between people and cultures; fostering new and experimental uses of radio as a medium for creative expression; approaching radio as a dynamic medium for community dialogue, introspection, and expression.Also, WPKN seeks to give citizens and community groups access to radio to share their interests, concerns, and talents by: providing low-cost broadcast training regardless of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, lifestyle, age, or physical ability; providing opportunities for women and minorities and others who are underrepresented in mainstream media to participate in community radio;encouraging two-way communication between WPKN and citizens byde-emphasizing the distinction between broadcaster and listener and encouraging active listener participation in all facets of radio via letters, tapes, phone calls, community events, studio visits, and performances.

The Center for Independent Documentary, Inc.

CID's mission is to support the production and distribution of high quality independently produced documentaries and the filmmakers who create them. The cooperative arrangement between CID and independent film and video producers is unique. Once involved in a project, CID becomes totally committed to its successful completion by working with producers at all phases including helping to raise and manage project funds and offer creative, technical, and distribution support. We promote our films through our website (396,000 visitors this year) and social media (7000 friends and followers). CID also provides professional development programs and collaborates with other organizations on initiatives that strengthen the production environment for independent filmmakers including offering monthly workshops, a weeklong retreat seminar for 10 filmmakers held each summer in Vermont, and the pride of the ocean film festival and seminars which provide a unique resource for LGBT filmmakers. CID works with filmmakers from all regions of the country. A total of 142 films are currently in the development and production phases. The demographics of the filmmakers and the subject matter of their films are equally diverse. CID films have been seen on PBS as part of American Masters, American Experience, Independent Lens and POV, received national cablecasts from HBO, Sundance, Discovery and Logo channels, and have appeared at every major film festival receiving awards from Emmy’s to the Peabody.
