Sonna Etienne Foundation’s mission is to foster, develop and nurture Sonna Etienne’s social vision and development priorities throughout his lifetime. We do this by helping underserved communities move towards economic welfare, building stronger education systems that will provide education or life skills to everyone, supporting access to quality education as a recognition of youth’s enormous potential and the right to a better future and providing them with the skills they need to recover, chart their own path to self-reliance and become first accountable to their growth and development in a globalized context.

Global Partners for Development's core belief is that people can achieve the greatest success when they are recognized as capable, responsible, and committed. Partnership is the key to our work. Working closely with grassroots African leaders, Global Partners supports communities that have the drive and initiative to tackle the basic problems of chronic hunger and poverty, but lack access to training and outside resources. Our aim is not to just fix things today, but to help craft solutions that bring self-reliance and positive change for future generations. From the beginning, Global Partners has worked in direct partnership with African community leaders and organizations. Together, we take to the next level the adage, ?It?s better to teach a man to fish than to give him a fish.? Once a person learns to fish, their obligation is to teach someone else. This is the spirit of Global Partners in action. We work with village and organization leaders that want not only to improve their own lives, but also to create educated, healthy communities and thriving economies to spread benefits worldwide.

At the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation, every day is an inspiring reminder of what we can achieve by providing HIV treatment and other supports for people whose lives are impacted by HIV/AIDS and the additional challenges of addiction, mental illness, poverty and discrimination. The Day Health Program and 24-hour specialized care Residence at the Dr. Peter Centre improve people's health and make a significant contribution to Vancouver's complex health care system. The Centre's progressive model of HIV/AIDS care is a source of inspiration for local, national, and international health care organizations and policy makers in responding to the new challenges in HIV/AIDS care. Our community of care is built on acceptance and support, helping people find strength in the face of an illness which does not have a cure. The Center for Global Development works to reduce global poverty and inequality through rigorous research and active engagement with the policy community to make the world a more prosperous, just, and safe place for us all. The policies and practices of the rich and the powerful—in rich nations, as well as in the emerging powers, international institutions, and global corporations—have significant impacts on the world’s poor people. We aim to improve these policies and practices through research and policy engagement to expand opportunities, reduce inequalities, and improve lives everywhere. By pairing research with action, CGD goes beyond contributing to knowledge about development. We conceive of and advocate for practical policy innovations in areas such as trade, aid, health, education, climate change, labor mobility, private investment, access to finance, and global governance to foster shared prosperity in an increasingly interdependent world. As a nimble, independent, nonpartisan, and nonprofit think tank, we leverage modest resources to combine world-class scholarly research with policy analysis and innovative outreach and communications to turn ideas into action.

Each month 40,000 Nova Scotians face the harsh realities of hunger - children, adults, seniors. FEED NOVA SCOTIA helps feed hungry people by collecting and distributing food to 153 member agency food banks and meal programs in Nova Scotia, and strives to eliminate hunger and poverty through research, awareness and support programs. Rather than allocating funds to individual agencies donations are used as follows: Feeding hungry people: We distribute food to our member agencies using a fair share system so people across the province have access to food in times of need. Each year we sort and distribute almost 2 million kilograms of food that comes to us from a variety of sources. Eliminating hunger and poverty: Through statistics and stories, we provide a clear picture of hunger and poverty in Nova Scotia and encourage others to join the call for change. We offer programs that support people experiencing food insecurity and help provide a chance for a new start.

Empowerment is at the core of all of CASA’s work – to move disadvantaged community members from a position of oppression to a position of power. CASA’s approach is not only to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services and programs that meet the needs of immigrant and working class communities, but also to leverage their assets and strengths to work for systemic solutions that will benefit generations to come. Founded in 1985 by congregants of a church, CASA is a national leader in providing innovative, immigrant-focused services that range from economic empowerment, to financial independence, and social integration, with over 122,000 members across 48 states.

Brendah’s Hope will be an excellent provider of spiritual/moral, social, health, education, economic, and basic needs in support of orphans and other vulnerable children in 3rd world countries, and to provide them a stable living arrangement that fosters autonomy. We are currently working closely with SPCF Children's Home, located in Uganda. There are little resources, little funding to sustain it, and very limited man-power to run it. Because of the challenges that SPCF and other "orphanages" like it are facing, and what the challenges entail - starving children with no education, poor health, and no basic needs being met, Brendah's Hope was created in 2016.

Founded in 1955, the World Rehabilitation Fund is the pioneer organization devoted to the development and implementation of rehabilitation programs for people with disabilities throughout the world. WRF's mission is: to enable individuals around the world with functional limitations and participation restrictions achieve community and social integration through physical and socio-economic rehabilitation and advocacy; and to prevent disability and reduce disadvantage. WRF believes that all people, regardless of disability, have the right to participate fully in their communities, to attain education and viable employment. Guiding Principles The WRF staff works closely with local and international partners to develop culturally appropriate initiatives that address all aspects of rehabilitation, from incident through reintegration by: Strengthening the capacity of indigenous organizations to better meet the needs of people in states of disadvantage due to various forms of disabilities. Developing community-based programs for physical, psychological, and socio-economic rehabilitation and reintegration. Upgrading skills of rehabilitation service providers such as physicians, therapists, health promoters, nurses, social workers, and vocational rehabilitation specialists. Collaborating with industry and local professionals to enhance vocational training, skills-building, and job placement programs to create sustainable employment and income-generating entrepreneurial opportunities. Training rehabilitation professionals throughout the world in the fabrication and fitting of artificial limbs, orthopedic braces, and other assistive technology appropriate for the geographic area they serve. Ensuring that people with disabilities are part of the team from start to finish.

Raining Hope raises and distributes funds in order to provide food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education for children & families in need in Uganda. But more importantly, they are shown the love of Jesus Christ and taught to share that love with others. Many Ugandan children are without hope, living on the streets, without love and guidance. But the children of Raining Hope have been rescued from that life and given an opportunity to become, well-loved, well-trained, well-educated servants of God. They are focused students who are thankful for the opportunity to get a good education. They are joy-filled followers of Jesus who take seriously the opportunity to impact others' lives for God. They are worshipers who live for God's glory. They are servants, who take nothing for granted & are passionate about sharing God's love with others, in tangible ways. Raining Hope is making a life-long investment to raise up a generation of people who will be used by God to change Uganda and the world. Unnati is a high quality, result oriented vocational training program for the underprivileged youth in India. A social transformation with assured corporate job in 70 days. The 450 hours of intensive training program in spoken English, basic computers, life skills & values and with specialization in retail sales & marketing, guest care in office & hotel, security and other discipline. On completion of the program youth are guaranteed on-campus placement into reputed companies.

The mission of the African Dream Academy Foundation (ADAF) is to support the African Dream Academy (ADA), a tuition-free, co-ed, independent school for students in Grades Nursery - Twelve, located in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. Both ADAF and ADA aim to reduce poverty and foster sustainable development in Liberia by empowering Liberian students through education, enabling them to become responsible, productive, and healthy citizens. Currently, the School provides an education, a daily, nutritious meal, uniforms, and transportation to school, when needed, for 1,800 students. In an atmosphere of self-disciplined behavior, the School provides the opportunity for students to mature intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically, and aesthetically.
