The mission of CityKids is to empower urban young people, ages 13 to 19, through arts and educational programs to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in school, the workplace and in life. Empower a Billion Lives (EBL) is a biennial global competition (starting 2018) designed to crowdsource regionally relevant innovation to accelerate deployment of energy access solutions around the world. EBL requires a holistic approach using innovative business plans and fast-moving 21st-century technologies with exponentially declining prices. Ongoing competition cycles will drive a continuous learning process allowing successive competitors to leverage past learnings, adopt fast-moving emerging technologies and demonstrate capabilities in realistic environments.
