St Philip's Child Development Center's mission is to provide a safe, positive learning environment for the youngest children of our community; to nurture their spiritual, physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth with a curriculum of excellence focused on school readiness; to support and strengthen families.

The school offers a carefully prepared, safe and nurturing environment in which children, age 3 to 6 actively engage in a variety of work areas to encourage their fullest development. Inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori, the school endeavors to instill a life-long love of learning.

Marble Hill Nursery School is a non-profit parent cooperative nursery school. Founded in 1953 by parents living in the Marble Hill Houses, our school offers a high-quality, early childhood education to an ethnically and socio-economically diverse group of children.

Our Mission: Sweet Pea Montessori collaborates with families to offer quality infant and toddler Montessori environments. We strive for community, equity, and connections with nature. Purpose: Sweet Pea Montessori School is a diverse community of infants, toddlers, their families, and Montessori-trained caregivers. It provides children with a loving and and developmentally appropriate environment to learn and grow in while at school and supports families through cooperation and parent education. It serves as a model and offers mentorship to those interested in pursuing Montessori training. Wind in the Willows provides a holistic learning environment which gives young children time to develop skills and relationships that will last a lifetime. Our program incorporates families and the larger community to support and nurture our youngest members as they blossom and become socially competent, emotionally aware and cognitively ready to be life long learners.

The Big Barn Preschool provides a loving and nurturing learning environment that enhances intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual growth. Children, who are special gifts from God, are to be loved, respected, and offered challenges that foster interactive learning. Their goal is to collaborate with parents to help develop their child’s sense of independence and a positive self-image.

Neighborhood House Nursery School is operated by the Neighborhood Association, a non-profit, community-based organization. Opened in 1920 and located in a charming Victorian house just one block from Taylor Park, the NHNS provides a home away from home environment where children learn to love the process of learning and discovery. NHNS also creates a unique opportunity to connect learning to our natural environment with the use of our garden area. The pre-school program is open to children of parents who live or work in Millburn/Short Hills and the surrounding communities. Our staff works diligently to prepare each child for the transition to elementary school through fostering confidence, self-awareness and the ability to connect all learning to the world in which we live.
