Oceana, the world's largest international organization focused exclusively on ocean conservation, was founded in 2001 by a group of leading foundations concerned that although the oceans constitute over 70 percent of the earth's surface, an extremely small percentage of environmental funding was dedicated to protecting them.  Oceana's campaigns are designed to change that by forcing clear, identifiable policy changes with real "in the water" results, usually in three to five years. Our international campaigns in North America, Europe, Chile, and Belize are focused on the actions agreed on by scientists throughout the world as necessary to preserve and restore marine life: Protect seafloor habitat from destructive bottom trawling; Set and enforce reasonable catch limits for commercial fishing; Stop subsidizing overcapacity in commercial fishing fleets; Stop marine pollution, particularly carbon dioxide emissions that are making the oceans more acidic; Oceana sets annual goals toward achieving specific changes and holds itself strictly accountable to its Board, funders, and supporters.  Since inception, Oceana has achieved dramatic success in protecting the world's oceans in targeted, practical ways.

The Nature Conservancy is a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. Its mission is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends, by boldly addressing the biodiversity and climate crisis over the next decade, and maximizing the organization's ability to effect change between now and 2030, to shape a brighter future for people and our planet.

SeaTrees protects and restores coastal ecosystems to protect ocean health and fight climate change. The organization works with communities around the world to plant and protect mangrove and kelp forests, seagrass meadows, coral reefs, and coastal watersheds. The regeneration and protection of these ecosystems provide critical habitat for countless species, sustainable long-term employment for local communities, and protect communities from storm surges and sea-level rise.

Around the world, modern and industrialized farming practices are destroying the environment—and, at the same time, failing to provide reliable income and nourishment for the farmers we all depend on to survive. At Trees for the Future (TREES), we recognize that unsustainable land use is the root cause of our most pressing challenges. We confront these challenges by serving the people at the heart of our global food systems: farmers and their families. As a global leader in agroforestry training for over 30 years, TREES provides hands-on, immersive education, skill building, and support, encouraging farmers to work with nature, not against it. Our signature methodology, the Forest Garden Approach, helps farmers transform their land with thousands of fast-growing, ecologically appropriate trees and dozens of other crops, creating new possibilities for themselves and their communities. By embracing sustainable land practices, farmers are reclaiming their agency, breaking the cycles of climate change and generational poverty, and rebuilding our food systems from the ground up.

This fund will split donations evenly between: FastForward.org, AI Education Project, Careervillage.org, Develop for Good, Learning Equality, and Upchieve FastForward Fast Forward invests in tech nonprofit entrepreneurs who are applying the best tech to our biggest social problems. AI Education Project (AIEDU) AIEDU creates game-based curricula introducing AI concepts in underserved schools. CareerVillage.org CareerVillage.org is a platform that crowdsources career advice from 90k+ professionals for 5M+ underrepresented youth. Develop for Good Develop for Good is a volunteer platform pairing diverse university students with nonprofits for tech projects Learning Equality Learning Equality bridges the global digital divide by bringing the online learning revolution offline. UPchieve UPchieve provides free, online, & on-demand STEM tutoring for low-income high school students.

Tackling the current water crisis through our research and development, allows greater access to clean and safe water globally. It is through this innovation that the Green Journey Coalition is transforming the current environmental research field to provide a safe and healthier tomorrow.

The Los Angeles River is the birthplace of our region and was once the thriving, unifying water source for the people and wildlife of Los Angeles. But that connection and our collective history was severed when the River was encased in concrete and fenced in 1938. In an act of civil disobedience, poet activist Lewis MacAdams took the first steps to repair that severed connection in 1986 when he cut a hole in the chain link fence that obstructed Angelenos from their rightful River. He declared the River open to the people and swore to serve as its voice. And so, Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR) and the River Movement were born. FoLAR has endeavored for over 30 years to restore community connection and natural ecology as the single largest unifying force on the River – educating, empowering, and mobilizing over 70,000 Angelenos to repair habitat and fight for the policies that will reclaim our collective right to a healthy, thriving, and equitably accessible Los Angeles River. Our mission is to build capacity for communities, students, and future leaders to advocate for nature, climate, and equity on the Los Angeles River.

As California State Parks’ statutory non-profit partner, we have a clear mission – to help strengthen parks and inspire all people to experience these extraordinary places. We are an independent 501c3 organization that supports California State Parks. What does it mean to be "the statutory partner?" That just means we were created by an act of the Legislature to address a big need identified by Governor Brown's blue-ribbon panel on the future of parks. The Parks Forward Commission concluded in 2016 that State Parks need a non-profit partner, or what they termed "a support entity." So, we were founded in 2019 to full this important need. Why would a state agency like The Department of Parks and Recreation, need a non-profit partner? Well, the short answer is: the same reason National Parks need the National Parks Foundation. Closer to home, the same reason every public school needs a PTA or parent association. That is, to fund and to implement innovative and critical programs that are not covered by the public funds. Put another way, to be the nimble partner of State Parks, what some have called "the R&D arm" of State Parks. If we want parks to be strong for the next generations, we need to be thinking now about equitable access (making sure that people from all backgrounds can get to and feel welcome at parks), and about climate resilience. Those are two of the key areas of work for Parks California. Parks California is helping make parks more welcoming, inclusive, and climate resilient. The MISSION of the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative is to develop scientific, economic and ecologically sustainable models and practices that would: * Restore and improve the Hawaiian forest to what it once was. * Allow landowners to profitably establish and maintain permanent forest on these lands. * Protect and promote our native flora and fauna. * Maximize the ability to sequester carbon from our atmosphere. * Educate and entrain all who live and visit our islands the importance of caring for all our forest in all their forms. * Recharge our watersheds with more water. * Allow individuals and businesses an opportunity to become stakeholders of our environment through the planting of trees.
