THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT, PROTECTION AND EDUCATION ABOUT THE ECOLOGY OF THE MATANZAS RIVER. In the 1980s, a group of residents in south St. Johns County were looking for a platform for engaging in local politics and better protecting area ecological resources. They formed Friends of Matanzas, Inc., which began as a relatively small coalition of activists with modest goals. The organization has since blossomed into a true citizen’s task force tackling major local and regional issues. Friends of Matanzas has worked on several projects in several categories including the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan and Development Code, transportation planning, land use planning, and environmental and waterway protection.

EarthShare of Texas is The Environmental Fund for Texas. EarthShare of Texas helps to conserve natural resources and build a healthy and sustainable environment by partnering with member organizations, employers, and the community. EarthShare of Texas qualifies environmental charities in Texas for length and quality of service and adherence to financial standards, raises funds through workplace giving and cause campaigns, and distributes these funds to our members.

Friends of Acadia preserves, protects and promotes stewardship of the outstanding natural beauty, ecological vitality, and distinctive cultural resources of Acadia National Park and the surrounding communities for the inspiration and enjoyment of current and future generations.

As Alta's local land trust, the Mission of Friends of Alta is to protect the environment of Alta, including watershed and wildlife habitat areas; to preserve Alta’s unique character and heritage; and to encourage stewardship and sustainability of Alta’s environment and community.

Their mission is a simple, but powerful one: to forge partnerships among citizens, scientists, and professionals to foster the management and protection of lakes and reservoirs … for today and tomorrow.
