Oceanites is the only NGO championing science-based conservation for the 53 signatory countries of the Antarctic Treaty system and international awareness of climate change through the lens of Antarctic penguins. Our institutional memory, scientific expertise, and unique ability to translate complicated science into easily digested take-home messages uniquely position us to positively shape public awareness of climate change. The message Oceanites and its principals take forward is that our future depends on whether we, like penguins, will adapt and still have a decent home, food to eat, and good health, and continue to produce children for generations to come.

Agua Pura Para El Pueblo is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization founded to help communities and families obtain safe, clean drinking water and improve their sanitation. Over one billion people world wide lack access to safe water, and a million children die each year due to preventable diarrheal diseases. With a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean, we promote simple small scale methods and techniques that people can use to make their water safe to drink. We also give seminars and demonstrations both in the United States and in Latin America to other nongovernmental organizations and to community groups on methods of water purification.

Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort (aka AWARE Wildlife Center) rehabilitates Georgia's injured and orphaned native wildlife and educates the community about habitat preservation and peaceful coexistence. AWARE is the leading wildlife rehabilitation center in the state and the only one in the Atlanta area that accepts all species of native wildlife.Working in cooperation with state and federal agencies such as US Fish and Wildlife Service and Georgia Department of Natural Resources, AWARE provides wildlife rehabilitation services otherwise unavailable to the public. AWARE is an informational resource that educates children and adults alike in all matters of conservation, habitat preservation and restoration, peaceful coexistence with wildlife and environmental stewardship.

Solar Youth’s mission is to empower youth from New Haven’s high-poverty neighborhoods to achieve lifelong success. We do this through our unique program model which includes LONG-TERM supportive relationships, and programs that happen IN their neighborhoods where youth EXPLORE their ENVIRONMENT, become PROBLEM-SOLVERS and practice LEADERSHIP. Founded in 2000, Solar Youth has served over 3,000 children aged 4 to 18+. In the coming years we are looking to expand to serve MORE youth, and serve them BETTER - ensuring they have the on-going strategic supports to (1) graduate from high school; (2) with a post-HS plan; (3) prepared for success.

When our communities have good jobs that support our families without doing damage to the water, air and land. When companies and the wealthy pay their share of taxes and can't buy elections. When all people have health care, shelter, food, education, clean water and other basic needs. When children are listened to and valued. When discrimination is wiped out of our laws, habits and hearts. And when the voices of ordinary people are heard and respected in our democracy.

We consider the interrelatedness of all issues and the need for a holistic approach, with a focus on three primary areas: ‘Aina. We create solutions that foster sustainability and work in harmony with nature while producing abundant, healthy and local food. Community. We care for our children, our economy, our society and our island’s future. We envision a Kaua’i where people enjoy a high quality of life and the sense of community is strong. Culture. We are built on healthy relationships with each other and our kinship with the land. We respect and perpetuate the local culture and indigenous wisdom of our ancestors.

North Cascades Institute's mission is to conserve and restore Northwest environments through education. In our 21 year history, we have served more than 65,000 children, adults and families in field-based programs emphasizing hands-on discovery and stewardship of the North Cascades--one of the wildest, most biologically diverse landscapes in North America. Our Mountain School, watershed education programs and summer camps teach youth about the natural world. Adult seminars, teacher workshops and our graduate curriculum serve to prepare community, educational and environmental leaders. North Cascades Institute connects people, nature and community through the lasting power of education.

Teton Science Schools' mission is to connect people, nature and place through education, science and stewardship. TSS is an organization in northwest Wyoming and Idaho comprised of seven program areas sharing a common vision of education. We have been teaching about the natural world and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem since 1967. TSS is deeply rooted in the outdoors as place anchors and enriches our understanding of the world. Our organization has educated, trained and inspired thousands of children, youth and adults, bringing them together through the study of nature and place-based education. We serve students from across Wyoming, the Intermountain West, the nation and around the world.

The Vietnam Education Society was established in 2005 to raise funds to cover the cost of construction for new preschools and primary schools in rural Vietnam. Local authorities manage and operate the facilities, which are inspected by VES and our partner, East Meets West, on a regular basis. VES opened its first school in Vietnam in June 2007, a ten room school that serves close to 400 students in the small community of Cat Ne, Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam. A multipurpose room and early childhood development centre were added to the school. Since that time, VES has built three other schools and is currently (Spring 2013) working on plans for the fifth facility. VES also works with the Pacific Links Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping stop human trafficking along the border regions in Vietnam. VES provides 40 scholarships for at risk girls and sponsors a summer camp to provide these girls with support and life skills

Self-Help International (SHI) devotes its efforts to alleviating world hunger and poverty by providing opportunities to rural citizens that ultimately lead to self-reliance. Since its inception, Self-Help has served as a vessel; training, education, and opportunities are provided to rural citizens and whole communities in developing countries so that they can have better lives. MISSION STATEMENT: To alleviate hunger by helping people help themselves. SELF-HELP'S INITIATIVE Educate: We educate the people of the United States to understand the problems of life in developing countries particularly the awareness of the perpetual struggle by millions to produce and distribute food to battle persistent chronic hunger and poverty; we help tell their story Train: We train people in developing countries in the use of Quality Protein Maize (QPM). This increases crop yields and improves nutrition. We assist local farm families with planting, Improve: We improve infant and pre-school children's diets by administering an improved porridge feeding program. Made from QPM and pinches of barley malt, this combination has been proven to alleviate malnutrition, thwart sickness, and keep children in school so they can continue their education. Empower: We provide micro-credit loans for women to start small scale businesses. This availability of credit empowers women and increases their income - because they do not have access to traditional financing. Cooperate: We cooperate with other organizations and agencies in the introduction of appropriate farming practices or advancement in the battle against poverty and malnutrition.

Our mission is to promote sustainable village development in partnership with Cambodian people by helping to provide clean water, sanitation, educational opportunities, health care from birth onwards, improved nutrition, and economic empowerment. We work to increase awareness of environmental and social responsibility within families and communities by helping provide the necessary tools for villagers to improve their quality of life; feel pride and reach their highest potential. It is the mission of Glastonbury Partners in Planting, Inc. to establish planting areas in historically significant or highly visible sites within the Town of Glastonbury; to provide educational opportunities for members of the community to learn about the care of plants and promote an understanding of the value of biodiversity among flora; to re-establish the American Elm in the Town. Glastonbury Partners in Planting, Inc. (GPIP) is a 501.3(c) non-profit organization. We are made up of Glastonbury residents working to make our town a more beautiful place to live. GPIP also wants to enhance the sense of community among the citizens of the Town by celebrating its past, beautifying the present, and planting for the future and to raise and provide funds and labor to accomplish these goals. Part of GPIP’s ongoing mission includes educational outreach. GPIP presents educational programming twice a year at its fall and spring member meetings, partners with the Glastonbury public schools to create classroom and field programs and holds periodic educational programs for residents of all ages.
