ADVOCATING-for a compassionate society In 2013, we rescued our first farmed animals. We knew that if we could share their stories of courage and survival against all odds, we could create life-saving change for farmed animals everywhere. Our virtual education programs, in-person tours, events, outreach, and advocacy have reached people worldwide while remaining a safe harbor for locally abused, neglected, and discarded farmed animals. We give each animal that enters our sanctuary the best care possible. Through our rehab and physical therapy program, special dietary needs, and unique emotional needs, we stop at nothing to ensure the animals have everything they need to thrive once they arrive at Tamerlaine, which will now be their forever home.

LightHawk's mission is the champion environmental protection through the unique perspective of flight. Our goal is to mobilize enough volunteer pilots, aircraft and resources to help tip the balance toward sustainability for every major environmental issue within our targeted areas of focus. LightHawk helps to address environmental issues through: Educational flights over contested landscapes to convert abstract proposals into something passengers can grasp has a powerful ability to transcend all personal ideologies, change hearts and minds, build commitment, and lead to action. Technical flights are often the only practical way to obtain objective data on patterns of human and wildlife use. Technical flights include aerial photography, scientific data-gathering, wildlife surveys, and ground-truthing data obtained from satellites, high-altitude photography, or computer modeling. All  flights are donated by our corps of volunteer pilots.

Rare is the leading behavior change organization in conservation. We specialize in identifying proven locally-led solutions and work with partners and communities worldwide to bring these solutions to a regional and national scale. For over 45 years, through more than 450 behavior change campaigns across 60 countries, Rare has empowered over 10 million individuals to shift from resource users to environmental stewards. Our mission-Rare inspires change so people and nature thrive-is about motivating behavior change. Rare uses insights from behavioral science and design thinking to encourage individuals and their communities to adopt behaviors that benefit people and nature-and ensure that change lasts. Our programs are based on the cumulative power of individual action and the exponential power of those actions to inspire others. Rare trains local leaders to lead change, leaving a legacy of increased capacity and a sense of ownership, responsibility, and pride in conservation.

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation connects Americans with their wilderness heritage by providing access to and stewardship of one of the world's most spectacular places -Montana's Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex, the crown jewel of the Wilderness System. We help hundreds of hard-working volunteers, including youth, develop a land ethic and give back to the wilderness by opening trails, restoring heavily used areas, maintaining historic structures and fighting weeds. Active wilderness stewardship is our mission. The Center for Renewable Energy and Appropriate Technology for the Environment (CREATE!) was established in 2008 to help rural populations in the developing world prepare for water, food, and fuel shortages resulting from the impact of climate change on their communities. CREATE! operates on the principle that all people have a right to water, food, shelter, energy, and the means to earn a living. We work with village populations to meet these needs through a culturally respectful, participatory process grounded in our belief that people must have a stake in their development and contribute towards solving their own problems. The cooperative groups in our beneficiary villages have already demonstrated the validity of this approach. CREATE! currently operates in Senegal. Senegal is representative of many Sub-Saharan African countries that are hardest hit by the increasingly disastrous effects of global climate change. CREATE! responds to the inter-connected crises generated by climate change with strategies that decrease dependence on fossil fuels, conserve natural resources, and increase the use of appropriate technologies. Our programs produce sustainable, human needs-based development at the village level while forging resilient and vibrant communities across rural Senegal. CREATE! seeks to face these challenges and assist rural Senegalese residents with small-scale, accessible, and "appropriate" technologies - technologies that are adapted to, and fit, their local conditions - and with human needs-based strategies that can both better their lives and build their capacity to meet these inter-connected challenges. CREATE! works in six villages in two regions of Senegal. One region is in the rural north of Senegal, centered around Linguere in the Louga Region, where CREATE! implements programs in the village of Ouarkhokh. The other region is in the central-west of Senegal, centered around Gossas in the Fatick Region. CREATE! implements program activities in five villages in this region. The total beneficiary population of the six villages is approximately 12,000 people, comprised of both agricultural and pastoral peoples. The average per capita annual income of the population in these villages is approximately $350 a year. In each of these villages, CREATE! staff work closely with local and traditional authorities, including village chiefs and imams, in addition to other community leaders, families, and public schools. CREATE! values the expertise and input of community members and strives to incorporate their knowledge and participation into each stage of our programs. As a registered NGO in Senegal, CREATE! works with government officials from the regional office of the Department of Water and Forestry. CREATE! also respects the Senegalese government's strategic development goals for rural communities. Although CREATE!'s administrative office is located in the United States, CREATE! relies on local Senegalese staff and volunteers to plan and implement successful development interventions. Barry Wheeler, CREATE! Founder and Executive Director, has spent the past 27 years working to alleviate suffering and to provide basic human needs for rural villagers, displaced persons, and refugees in several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. After serving in the Peace Corps for six years as an Improved Cook Stove and Appropriate Technology volunteer, trainer, and technical advisor in Togo, Barry earned a Master's degree in International Agriculture and Rural Development from Cornell University. Barry has served as Country Director for the American Refugee Committee's programs in Uganda, Sudan, and Rwanda; as a consultant for UNICEF and UNHCR; and as a team leader and training coordinator in local capacity building, renewable and appropriate technology, and sustainable rural development. CREATE! Chief Operations Officer Louise Ruhr has more than 30 years of private sector and nonprofit management experience and has spent the past eight years working with international NGOs, including the American Refugee Committee, to support women's cooperative groups in Rwanda and Senegal. CREATE! Country Director Omar Ndiaye Seck oversees program activities and conducts site visits in CREATE! communities. He also manages CREATE!'s finances and staff in Senegal. Omar closely collaborates with local and traditional authorities, community volunteers, and CREATE! staff to achieve both organizational and village goals.

"Connecting Cambodian Youth to the skills, opportunities, and inspirations needed to reach their potential." This is the mission of PEPY Empowering Youth, a local non-profit (NGO) focused on educating and empowering youth in underserved and remote communities outside of Siem Reap city. With their team's intimate understanding of barriers affecting students' ability to move onto higher education (many team members are former beneficiaries of PEPY's projects), PEPY staff often become student's first role models while building their capacity to achieve their dreams through academic, technical, and professional training- enabling them to make changes they wish to see in their communities. Through PEPY, students' rates of moving onto higher education and obtaining skilled employment are increasing. PEPY's approach to education development is different because they focus on high school and higher education students, an age group often overlooked, while targeting remote areas where higher education is uncommon and often financially impossible. PEPY's programs are comprehensive and go beyond typical scholarship programs, guaranteeing that students graduate and all of them find jobs while they are still in school.

With the goal of helping under-served communities in India, Nepal, and Tibet receive the vital services they need, Karuna-Shechen was founded in 2000 by Matthieu Ricard (www.matthieuricard.org), renown TED speaker, author, and humanitarian. We strive to reduce inequalities and work toward a fairer and more compassionate world. We trust that communities can be lifted out of poverty, that change is possible, and that the well-being of every individual, regardless of race, gender, class, or caste, is essential. We believe that building on local strengths and knowledge is the most efficient way to respond to the specific needs and aspirations of our beneficiaries. Rooted in the ideal of "compassion in action", we serve others with joy and determination by cultivating altruism in our hearts and actions. We provide vulnerable and disadvantaged populations access to health care, education and vocational training, clean water, solar electricity, and other sustainable solutions that offer options to find a livelihood and a better life. We work with a grassroots network of local partners, and give special attention to the education and empowerment of girls and women. Karuna-Shechen's name expresses its mission while paying homage to its roots: Karuna means "compassion" in Sanskrit, and Shechen is the name of a major monastery in Tibet.

Founded in 2004 by a group of young professionals who believed people can make a difference, HandsOn Shanghai is an officially registered non-profit organization with the Shanghai Civil Affair Bureau since 2010. Governed by a board of 11 members, the HandsOn Shanghai volunteer platform helps to bridge the divide that exists between individuals who are looking to give back to their community and the organizations that would benefit from the support that volunteers can provide. With a primary objective of providing flexible volunteer opportunities for busy professionals and serving local charities in needs, HOS manages a big group of volunteers and a diverse range of community service projects in Shanghai Currently we engage more than 2500 volunteers each month through more than 150 local service projects. Projects that benefit the young and old through long term, committed, partnerships with more than 75 project partners. With our mission is to promote volunteerism, inspire, equip and mobilize people to take action that changes the world, we envision a world in which individuals, students, and corporate leaders are able to discover (and harness) their power to make a difference, participate as volunteers, and participants in the development of healthy, vibrant, and resilient communities.

The foundation was created to fully endorse the philanthropic service and the impeccable conscientious behavior that Koginka Kamaru Xue has exemplified in America and worldwide for the last 35 years; a ministration solely dedicated to preserving, protecting, and nurturing our planet and all that lives within it. We are committed to promulgating his teachings and assisting in the dissemination, publication and distribution of any printed, recorded or filmed material that aids in educating all people throughout the world on the importance of returning to the simple non-destructive wise ways of living and behaving as was originally intended and that will re-establish the harmony in our environment and bring back the balance of the natural system that sustains us. These teachings are referred to as the "ANCESTRAL HOLISTIC WISE WAYS". We intend to support and assist in the development of his mission by facilitating the elements needed to fulfill his goal in every possible way, as is creating functional places and sanctuaries needed where people can holistically be educated about all that relates to the ecological, environmental and natural safekeeping and caretaking of themselves and the planet. At the same time we will aid in protecting his spiritual ancestors the Kogi of the Sierra Nevada in Santa Marta, and the Muiscas of the Savannah of Bogota, Colombia and any other indigenous custodians that still hold the original commission of the Creator by raising funds to recover their sacred sites and ancestral wisdom.

The Yggdrasil Urban Wildlife Rescue (YUWR) and Education Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. We are dedicated to the rehabilitation of orphaned and injured wildlife living in urban city centers and education of the public about how to live harmoniously with our cities’ wildlife. We serve the San Francisco Bay Area in the State of California, USA. When an injured or orphaned wildlife mammal is found, we nurse these animals back to a healthy state where they are able to be released back into the wild. Through education to children and adults alike, we try to raise awareness of these wild residents of our cities in the hope that a better co-habitation will lead to less injuries/orphans and more enjoyment of the urban wildlife with which we share our cities. We are a grassroots organization and are 100% volunteer-run and donation-funded! Our Mission: To heal the sick and injured/orphaned animals brought to us and ready them for release back into our Urban Wilds. To educate people of all ages in the wonder and enjoyment of wildlife and nature and why it is so vital we protect it. To teach patience and compassion so that urban wildlife is viewed in a more positive light by everyone- not as pests, but as important co-habitators of our environment.

Rainforest Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation that has been protecting and restoring rainforests in Australia and internationally since 1998 by providing opportunities for individuals and businesses to Protect Rainforests Forever. Our mission is to inspire, engage and build community for the protection, preservation and restoration of rainforests through fundraising and education. Our objectives are: 1. The protection and enhancement of the natural environment. 2. The conservation of rainforests and the preservation of the biodiversity of rainforest ecosystems. 3. The restoration, rehabilitation, enhancement and management of remnant and regrowth rainforest. 4. The revegetation of ex-rainforest lands, including without limitation the establishment and ongoing management of rainforests plantings or signficant ecological value. The strategies that we employ to achieve these objectives is to: 1. Seek funding in the form of donation and sponsorships from individuals, businesses and philanthropic trusts and foundations. 2. Purchase and protect high conservation value rainforest and preserve its biodiveristy; and 3. Finance projects that re-establish rainforests through planting, maintenance and restoration programs. Rainforest Rescue meaures its performance of these objectives and strategies through ongoing governance, financial management and corporate compliance, therefore achieving the environmental objectives of the organisation's constitution being the protection and preservation of rainforests. Rainforest Rescue is an Austtralian registered company limited by guarantee and a registered charity with deductible gift recipient status. We are also on the Australian Register of Environmental Organisations.

The mission of the Tregaron Conservancy is to preserve, rehabilitate and maintain the Tregaron Estate’s nationally-landmarked landscape as a public woodland garden. As owner and steward of a 13-acre historic landscape in Washington DC, the Conservancy is working to recapture the original vision of Tregaron's renowned landscape architect, Ellen Biddle Shipman, guided by Shipman's original plans, adapting the designs for contemporary usage and current environmental conditions. The Conservancy consults with historic landscape experts in its design work and has adopted sustainable practices in managing the landscape.To date, the Conservancy has restored the original lily pond and trail system, stone stairways, bridges and footpaths and many woodland gardens. The Conservancy has planted hundreds of trees and shrubs, native meadows, and thousands of flowering plants.Tregaron is open to the public every day, free of charge. The Conservancy offers free community-building programs for adults and children, including bird walks, geology tours, tree walks, history tours and lectures, forest-bathing and yoga. Regular events include volunteer work days, Easter Egg hunts, tree planting, nature playgroups, and family hiking/story-time. As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Tregaron Conservancy depends on charitable contributions from individuals and foundations for its restoration and maintenance work, as well as its many programs. Tregaron has thousands of visitors every year; it is a lively and vibrant historic landscape, a treasured woodland gem in the heart of Washington, DC.
