United Planning Organization

OUR MISSION: Uniting People with Opportunities. The United Planning Organization, the designated community action agency for Washington, DC, was established December 10, 1962 to plan, coordinate, and implement human services programs for low-income residents in the Nation's Capital. For over 50 years, UPO has been in the forefront of the war on poverty. As the catalyst for economic security and growth for all Washington, DC residents, UPO has laid the groundwork for innovative social service programs such as weatherization and energy conservation services, Head Start, workforce development training and youth development. Today, UPO continues to provide residents with comprehensive resources for early childhood education; youth development; employment and training; family and community services; case management and referrals to other supportive services.

Crystal Cove Alliance

Our mission is to renovate and preserve for future generations the Historic District’s unique cultural, natural and historic resources and to make these values available for the enjoyment and education of all. The preservation and public use vision for the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District will be guided by the State Park Preservation and Public Use Plan and the 1982 General Plan.

Friends Of Matanzas

THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT, PROTECTION AND EDUCATION ABOUT THE ECOLOGY OF THE MATANZAS RIVER. In the 1980s, a group of residents in south St. Johns County were looking for a platform for engaging in local politics and better protecting area ecological resources. They formed Friends of Matanzas, Inc., which began as a relatively small coalition of activists with modest goals. The organization has since blossomed into a true citizen’s task force tackling major local and regional issues. Friends of Matanzas has worked on several projects in several categories including the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan and Development Code, transportation planning, land use planning, and environmental and waterway protection.

Nisqually River Foundation

To provide financial and staffing support to the Nisqually River Council as it implements the Nisqually Watershed Stewardship Plan. The mission of the Nisqually River Council is to create sustainability in the Nisqually Watershed for current and future generations by developing a common culture of environmental, social, and economic balance.

Nantucket Land Council

Planning ~ Protecting ~ Preserving The NLC is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit dedicated to protecting Nantucket’s natural world and rural character by holding and enforcing conservation restrictions, commissioning scientific research, monitoring development proposals, engaging in legal proceedings to protect natural resources, and educating the public on local environmental issues.

Wild Connections

Wild Connections, a science-based advocacy organization, works to identify, protect and restore lands of the Upper Arkansas and South Platte watersheds to ensure the survival of native species and ecological richness. We focus on designing, implementing and defending the Wild Connections Conservation Plan – a vision for the future of this region that embodies the results of many years of roadless area mapping, citizen input and conservation science.
