In 1953 Louise Dana helped establish La Piccola Casa di San Antonio in Rome, Italy, to provide care and education for girls orphaned by World War II. Fifty years later, Italy is a wealthy country, and there is no longer a need for the orphanage. Rather than abandon this important mission, our focus was redirected to Africa and our name was changed to the African Orphans Foundation. The African Orphans Foundation became officially incorporated into Africa in 2003 and is recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Since 2004 we have provided education, food, clothing, and shelter for orphaned girls in Africa. Over the years we have continued to grow and expand and are currently operating in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda. The need for support in Africa continues to be great, but corruption is also quite prevalent. AOF has taken extensive steps toward securing the funds that we allocate to our orphans. In most cases our program begins with a local 'sponsor' who already lives in Africa and personally knows of honest and devoted guardians within the community who are already caring for orphaned girls, but who are in need of financial assistance. We can offer such support. We have defined a guardian as an organization, such as an established orphanage, or an individual, such as a relative, but not the child’s biological parents. Through our sponsors, we are able to verify that the orphan is receiving adequate care and that the guardian will use the money for the child's direct welfare. Additionally, because the sponsors are local, we are able to fund opportunities that might not ordinarily receive charity because of their small size, geographic location, or grassroots origins. AOF does not promote political or religious activities of any kind and therefore abstains from funding religiously affiliated institutions or organizations, regardless of their level of care. Additionally, we have also taken precautions to ensure that our sponsors do not have any financial ties to the guardian or the orphan.

We believe that every life matters. That is why we strive to deliver the best care possible to our patients, both in the clinic and in the community. Our mission is not simply to provide medical services to the poor, but to build an effective healthcare system in the region that will save lives in a sustainable, equitable and just manner. We have a vision that drives all of our programs: the poor and all in Sierra Leone deserve the best healthcare possible, and Wellbody Alliance is dedicated to delivering it. We will work towards this vision until the day that no Sierra Leonean dies a death that would not happen in America or Europe. We have a mission that aligns our work: to provide healthcare as a human right to the poor in Sierra Leone. We do this through our community health work and high quality clinical care in Kono District.

AMHF began in 2010 to meet a need for funding and representation on behalf of African mission hospitals, which provide as much as half the medical care in some countries.  With the declining number of medical missionaries and the withdrawal of some Western churches, many mission hospitals lack access to the historic sources of assistance.

Raining Hope raises and distributes funds in order to provide food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education for children & families in need in Uganda. But more importantly, they are shown the love of Jesus Christ and taught to share that love with others. Many Ugandan children are without hope, living on the streets, without love and guidance. But the children of Raining Hope have been rescued from that life and given an opportunity to become, well-loved, well-trained, well-educated servants of God. They are focused students who are thankful for the opportunity to get a good education. They are joy-filled followers of Jesus who take seriously the opportunity to impact others' lives for God. They are worshipers who live for God's glory. They are servants, who take nothing for granted & are passionate about sharing God's love with others, in tangible ways. Raining Hope is making a life-long investment to raise up a generation of people who will be used by God to change Uganda and the world. Operation USA is an international relief agency that helps communities at home and abroad overcome the effects of disasters, disease and endemic poverty by providing privately-funded relief, reconstruction and development aid. Working with grass-roots partners on the ground, Operation USA provides material and financial assistance necessary in the face of a disaster, as well as to combat the effects of systemic poverty. Dedicated to rebuilding with commitment and listening to communities’ voices to determine the best way to assist them, Operation USA stays in the field long after many others leave. Long-term projects are supported that promote education and health services, sustainable development, leadership building, income generating activities and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable people worldwide.

2 billion people suffer from malnutrition because their diets lack key vitamins and minerals. Sanku combats malnutrition and saves lives by giving small mills the tools they need to add vital nutrients to maize flour, a staple of the East African diet. Our innovative technology adds precise levels of nutrients into flour during processing and our business model offsets the cost of the nutrients added. Millers don't need to charge extra for their nutritious flour and families can afford to buy and eat healthy food everyday. Our mission: guarantee that every meal consumed by every mother and child contains live-saving nutrients, forever. To date, we have given 2.5 million East Africans access to the basic human right of nutritious food and we are on track to reach 25 million people by 2025.

The Freedom from Fistula Foundation (FFFF) manages and funds projects that deliver maternal health care to vulnerable girls and women across Africa. The foundation treats and cares for those suffering from obstetric fistula by offering free surgeries, free maternity care, safe childbirth and provides programs aimed at prevention, social and psychological support and economic empowerment to those affected. The overall goal of the organization is to completely eradicate obstetric fistulas for women and girls in Africa. The key objectives of the FFFF are: To expand or develop fistula services in Africa, particularly in Kenya, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Madagascar. To finance access to healthcare during pregnancy and labor and to help prevent obstetric fistulas from occurring. To provide education and empowerment to fistula patients. To partner with other organizations and local facilities to improve fistula and maternity care.

Furthermore, to promote community development, denouncing the situation in which the most excluded communities live. And lastly, to advocate for social policies with other actors in society. VALUES: Solidarity. It is an empathy with the most excluded families, which moves us to want to be and work alongside with them. Sharing their hardships and desires, to learn from their skills and perseverance, and to advocate against everything that excludes them and that does not recognize their rights as human beings. Conviction. To overcome poverty and injustice in our continent is possible. This certainty gives us the determination to work tirelessly and together with others to accomplish it. Placing challenging and high goals, as well as taking the necessary risks to go beyond all the fatalisms that surround us. Excellence. All of our work must be of high quality, given that it is intended for those less fortunate. Our work is rigorous, punctual, always creative and innovative. It is respectful of the commitments, perseverant in the face of difficulties, intelligent to recognize mistakes and correct them, and proactive in the search for solutions to the problems that arise along the way. In a nutshell, we’re a group of friends who share a common desire to keep Melissa’s Hope going, now, and well into the future. Please feel free to contact any one of us with questions and ideas. Melissa’s Hope is a rare and wonderful place. Its a positive and busy community that feels a lot like summer camp. Visiting Melissa’s Hope feels good because its run by good people who treat the orphans, students, and day campers with respect and great care. Its also an expensive place to run. Right now, people who know Melissa’s Hope are raising money where they can to keep it going, but its month by month with practically no reserve. Its a fragile state that we intend to change. MHF is a volunteer organization. We established MHF with our own time, energy, and money, so donations are NOT subject to any overhead or expenses. Every dollar of every donation goes directly to Melissa’s Hope.
