Founded in 2009, The Grassroot Project (TGP) uses the power of sports and the platform of athlete role models to educate, inspire, and mobilize youth to live healthy lives. We are a team of more than 1,000 NCAA varsity athletes and 5,000 DC teens who are committed to making our city healthier. The Grassroot Project capitalizes on the excitement, relatability, and popularity of sports to provide much-needed health literacy and social empowerment programs to DC teens. The only way for us to succeed is to believe in the power of youth to make a difference. In addition to providing health education to DC teens, we invest in the leadership training, cultural competency, and professional skills of hundreds of NCAA varsity athletes who serve as our program facilitators. To collect unused medical supplies from local medical facilities and distribute them to countries in need, effectively limiting the negative impact on our environment and supporting health care efforts in developing countries; to send local medical personnel on medical missions to developing countries; to educate our local community about global health issues.

The Gavin Foundation is a multi-service nonprofit agency providing community-based substance abuse education, prevention and treatment programs. Their mission is the Restoration of Dignity for individuals, and their families, through each stage of the recovery process. They serve more than 5,000 individuals in the Greater Boston area each year through their adult, youth and community programs.

"The Lake Area Recovery Club is a 501-C3 Non-Profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and their families in recovery. We offer a safe and sober environment collectively based on the principles of 12 step recovery programs. Through activities such as meetings, fellowship, educational activities and social events. LARC strives to enhance the lives of people in recovery and the communities in which they live."

HRHF is an arm of Hope Rising Homes, Corporation (HRHC). Our mission is to give orphans, vulnerable and at-risk children a better life, by providing hope for a brighter future and a vision of life beyond their present vulnerable situations. HRHC strives to provide food, housing, education, and health care services; as well as rehabilitation, and clinical and faith-based counseling services to these needy children. HRHC aims to provide opportunities for the children to pursue either educational and/or job training, and other skill enhancements needed to become productive citizens. Additionally, by offering positive role models to guide and mentor these children, HRHC believes the children will overcome their negative pasts, and move on to bright and prosperous futures. We strongly believe that with the proper intervention, these children will thrive, develop to their full potential, and positively influence and contribute to their immediate communities and to the society at large.

The Fortune Society's mission is to support successful re-entry from prison and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities. We do this by: BELIEVING in the power of individuals to change, BUILDING LIVES through service programs shaped by the needs and experience of our clients, and CHANGING MINDS through education and advocacy that work to rectify unjust and brutal criminal justice policies.

Center Point's mission is to provide comprehensive social, educational, vocational, medical, psychological, housing and rehabilitation services to combat social problems such as substance abuse, poverty, unemployment and homelessness. Center Point offers rehabilitation and treatment services that interrupt the abusive cycles of psychological, social and economic dislocation by providing critical training and support so that individuals and families can claim self-worth and dignity.

Our mission is to create self-sustainable programs that empower women and their families. We strive to improve their health, education, and economic status in the communities where they live. These sustainable strategies are culturally, environmentally and practically sound. While we aim to be pragmatic, results-oriented organization that partners with other like minded organizations, we monitor outcomes. Our goal is to be scientifically sound and operationally transparent.

The CBCC Foundation for Community Wellness is an organization committed to addressing the financial, educational, and emotional needs of individuals in Kern County who have been diagnosed with cancer. Through the foundation, we promote cancer awareness and prevention to decrease incidence and increase survivorship through early detection. The resources provided by the CBCC Foundation are available to any cancer patient in Kern County regardless of treatment facility.
