The Bone Marrow Foundation, founded in 1992, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for bone marrow, stem cell and cord blood transplant patients and their families by providing vital financial assistance, educational information, and emotional support programs. Transplants treat over 70 life-threatening diseases including cancers and genetic disorders. The Foundation works with transplant centers nationwide and is the only organization of its kind that does not limit assistance to a specific disease, type of transplant or age range. All of The Foundation’s services are offered free to patients and their families. Patient Programs Lifeline Fund provides funding to help cover the costs of transplant-related expenses. In addition, the program leverages social media to enable patients to reach out to their family, friends and social networks for additional financial support. One-to-One Funds assist patients and their families with fundraising efforts by creating a personal fund at The Foundation. Medical & Educational Handbooks provide comprehensive patient education and resources to assist patients and family members in obtaining information regarding all aspects of transplantation. Ask the Expert enables individuals to pose questions concerning transplantation and to have them answered by healthcare professionals. SupportLine provides support services to transplant patients and their families by linking them with volunteers who have gone through the transplant experience. Survivorship Program provides support and information to post-transplant patients, their families, and caregivers as they continue to navigate their transplant journey. Survivor Telephone Support Group staffed by oncology social workers, provides bone marrow, stem cell and cord blood transplant survivors with a weekly scheduled telephone conference support group to share experiences and draw support from others. For patients one year or more post-transplant.  

Nearly five years ago, Boston was changed forever when a beautiful Marathon Monday turned into a senseless tragedy. Gillian Reny, then a high school senior, was one of the 39 critically injured patients rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), where doctors and nurses saved her life and both of her legs. In gratitude to BWH, the Reny family established The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation with a mission of transforming outcomes for civilian and military heroes worldwide who have suffered devastating traumatic injuries. To date, the center has raised more than $12 million. But much more needs to be done. Although trauma accounts for 41 million emergency department visits a year, funding for trauma research and care remains scarce. One Heart World-Wide (OHW) is a 501(c)(3) organization with over 15 years of experience implementing maternal and neonatal mortality prevention programs in areas where women often die alone at home giving birth. Our aim is to improve access to, and utilization of healthcare services to reduce the risk of maternal and neonatal mortality in the most remote, rural areas. We believe that all women and newborns can receive the quality healthcare services they deserve during pregnancy and childbirth, anytime and anyplace. Maternal and perinatal mortality are considered key indicators for health and development. OHW specializes in improving the access to, and the delivery of essential healthcare services in regions where the need is the greatest. We work in remote areas with the lowest human development indexes, where other organizations rarely operate. Pregnant women in these high-risk regions are often faced with little to no access to medical care. Socio-cultural barriers, limited personal resources, lack of information, geographical limitations, and inadequate healthcare services prevent pregnant women from receiving the essential care they need to have a safe pregnancy and childbirth. OHW addresses these barriers by improving access to healthcare services in the world's hardest to reach places. We deliver results and drive systemic change, saving lives now and in the future.

Breast Cancer Resource Centers (BCRC) of Texas is a centralized source of information, education and support that empowers those affected by breast cancer to navigate through diagnosis, treatment, recovery and beyond as active, knowledgeable participants in their healthcare. Staffed by breast cancer survivors, BCRC strives to reduce mortality rates by assisting central Texans diagnosed with breast cancer as they confront obstacles that stand in the way of their treatment or affect their quality of life. We help eliminate barriers related to insurance, employment, family relationships, inability to pay for services, and end-of-life decisions. Our certified patient navigators will work with you directly, providing practical guidance to help replace fear, anxiety and doubt with information, options and hope. Our programs include individualized patient navigation, face-to-face support group meetings, online forums, educational seminars, and special events. Whatever your circumstances, our services are provided free of charge to anyone affected by breast cancer regardless of income, ethnicity, level of education, or social support. With information that empowers, a community that understands, and help where and how its needed most, BCRC believes no one should face breast cancer alone

The world's poorest children are at highest risk of the world's most expensive injuries -- burns and amputations. These sudden, life-changing trauma injuries can happen in a second without warning but require a lifetime of support. The world has ample resources in the form of medical care, rehabilitation therapy, and psychosocial support for trauma survivors, but it is not getting to the children who need it most. HandReach is working to bring together the best hands in the world to promote healing, rehabilitation, and the full development of human potential among the world's poorest and most badly-injured children. HandReach works at three levels: 1) Individuals: We facilitate the sharing of best practices across countries and institutions by educating clinicians, therapists, parents, and healers of all kinds. We also work to bring acute, reconstructive, and psychosocial care to children who are in great need of surgery or rehabilitation therapy that their families cannot possibly afford. 2) Institutions: We facilitate international clinics, sponsor training, develop technological resources, and arrange for the donation of needed equipment and supplies so that institutions can maximize their ability to treat complex injuries and promote full rehabilitation for children, regardless of income. 3) Society: We advocate for the needs of the poor to promote greater access to medical care, education, safer products, building materials, and work practices, and a place in society that includes greater access and acceptance for people with physical differences. We are working to develop a free international database of best practices in pediatric burn care and orthopedic rehabilitation that allows doctors and therapists to consult across the world on cases. This online resource database will be readily translatable into any language and provide short, detailed videos that address various aspects of excellent burn and orthopedic care -- from skin grafting to splinting to prosthetics to psychological support for children and families. If a child is burned in China, for instance, her doctor can provide details about the case, consult live expert clinicians internationally, and be directed to easily downloadable videos in Chinese to share with staff and the patient's family. HandReach's work would then be to spread the word of this database and foster face-to-face contact between clinics worldwide. HandReach's dream is for there to be nowhere in the world a child can be injured that is out of reach of excellent medical care and psychosocial support.
