AMHF began in 2010 to meet a need for funding and representation on behalf of African mission hospitals, which provide as much as half the medical care in some countries.  With the declining number of medical missionaries and the withdrawal of some Western churches, many mission hospitals lack access to the historic sources of assistance.

Established in 1995, the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center is a nonprofit, public foundation's mission is to inspire community philanthropy to advance exceptional health care for patients at Morristown Medical Center and Goryeb Children’s Hospital.

OHSU Foundation exists to secure private philanthropic support for Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and to invest and manage gifts responsibly in accordance with donors' wishes.
