Girls Educational and Mentoring Services’

Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) mission is to empower girls and young women, ages 12-24, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential.  GEMS is committed to ending commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking of children by changing individual lives, transforming public perception, and revolutionizing the systems and policies that impact sexually exploited youth.

DBSA's mission is: "To provide hope, help, and support to improve the lives of people living with depression or bipolar disorder. DBSA pursues and accomplishes this mission through peer-based, recovery-oriented, empowering services and resources when people want them, where they want them, and how they want them."  The organization fosters an environment of understanding about the impact and management of these life-threatening illnesses by providing up-to-date, scientifically based tools and information, written in easy to understand language. DBSA has more than 1,000 peer-run support groups across the country. Assisted by a Scientific Advisory Board, comprised of the leading researchers and clinicians in the field of mood disorders, DBSA supports research to promote more timely diagnoses, to develop more effective and tolerable treatments and to discover a cure. The Alliance works to ensure that people living with mood disorders are treated equitably. Over five million people request and receive information and assistance from DBSA each year.

Children's Foundation of Mid-America

The mission statement of the agency reads, "Based on the teachings of Christ, Children's Foundation of Mid-America provides compassionate and therapeutic social, psychological and educational services to children and families of all faiths." In response to the needs of hurting children and their families, it is our intention to continue to be creative in serving the needs of children who have been neglected or abused, or who are at risk. Children's Foundation wants to enable each child to become a strong contributing member of our society.

Support Connection Inc

Support Connection is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to provide emotional, social and educational support services to women, their families and friends affected by breast and ovarian cancer. The support provided enables women to help each other and empowers them to become their own health care advocates. Our office is located in Yorktown Heights, NY, but through our toll-free telephone line, we provide support to people nationwide.

Native Heart Healing

The Mission of Native Heart Healing, Inc. is to operate as a not-for-profit Equine-assisted therapy providing help to cancer patients and survivors, and people who have been victims of domestic abuse, and trauma. We offer interactions with Gyspy horses as a way to help improve emotional growth for those needing help in overcoming grief, combating depression, improving self -esteem, and for those suffering from anxiety as they deal with the overwhelming experience of cancer treatments.

Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation

Our mission is to raise and distribute funds for the most promising research into the causes, treatment and prevention of early‐onset bipolar disorder. In particular, we aim to further investigate and promote awareness of the Fear of Harm phenotype which our research has identified as being simultaneously associated with a distinct biomarker as well as the symptoms of childhood‐onset bipolar disorder. Our Vision is finding relief for those who suffer from Juvenile Bipolar Disease.

Acupuncturists Without Borders

AWB's mission is to interrupt the devastating effects of trauma by reducing suffering and helping individuals and communities find greater balance and resiliency. We use community-style ear acupuncture as a powerful, simple, safe way of helping people "reset" their nervous systems to a greater state of calm, quiet and clarity. When a group experiences this relief from chaos, hope, determination and resiliency can begin to be restored, which allows communities to move forward.

Veterans Yoga Project

Veterans Yoga Project (VYP) is on a mission to support recovery and resilience in our veterans, families and communities. Through the teaching of the skills and methods of the VYP Mindful Resilience program (breathing, meditation, guided rest, mindful movement and gratitude), we aim to support veterans who are facing physical and/or psychological (PTSD, depression) challenges as a result of their service. VYP offers classes, at no charge, across the country, an online practice library and healing retreats for veterans and their caregivers.

Our primary mission is to provide resources to communities affected by America's addiction crisis by inspiring civic engagement and participation. Collective Action for Safe Space

Founded in 2009 as Holla Back DC!, Collective Action for Safe Spaces (CASS) has evolved from a blog to a dynamic organization that mobilizes the community to end public sexual harassment and assault in the DC metropolitan area. It does this through both online and offline activism, including workshops, innovative direct services, policy advocacy, and community outreach. Currently volunteer-led and -run, CASS utilizes the creativity and energy of the DC community to further its mission and vision.
