AFC's unique approach has led to the distinction of being one of the most successful shelters in the state at helping clients achieve self-sufficiency. Last year AFC served the most vulnerable clients* and over 80% of our clients graduated successfully - finding a permanent place to call home and a job to support the household.*Measured with the objective tool used by all homeless programs called the “Vulnerability index”.

Romero Institute

The Romero Institute is an interfaith, nonprofit law and public policy center. We expose structural injustice and litigate cases that matter to the wellbeing of the human family. Much of our work now focuses on climate change and the bad actors that carelessly harm the environment. The Romero Institute's Lakota People's Law Project partners with the Lakota to promote cultural renewal and safeguard their rights to autonomy and self-determination. Greenpower is growing a community-based movement to transition from greenhouse gas-emitting fuels to locally produced and controlled renewable energy.

White Snake Projects

We are White Snake Projects, an opera company founded and led by an immigrant woman of color. After three years of exploring our identity, we have a vision and a game plan. We’ve put this vision into action by integrating social activism with original opera, partnering with other activists to cross-promote important social issues and opera, and redefining how opera is made by involving young people from our community. The mission is the creation of original opera of the highest production values combined with social activism.
