The museum's official mission statement is "Where stories of military and civilian aviation and March Field come alive." This mission is typically expressed (in publicity, marketing, and internal training materials) as "The March Field Air Museum is a nonprofit educational institution dedicated to promoting an understanding of humanity's reach for the skies and March Field's pivotal role in the development of flight." The museum's slogan is "Reach for the Skies!"

The purpose of the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center Foundation, Inc. is to support the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center's mission to inspire conservation of the marine environment through education, research and sustainable practices.Over 650,000 people from surrounding communities and around the world visit the Aquarium annually.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum is unique to the Southern California region and serves the public through its mission to:Preserve…Inspire…Educate…Celebrate! Educate the public about the historical and social significance of air and space technology and engage its promise for the future. Celebrate aviation and space flight history and technology.
