The Ontario Association of Food Banks helps food banks alleviate hunger in Ontario. Every month, over 375,000 Ontarians are served by food banks. The number of people using food banks in Ontario has risen by almost 20 per cent in the past five years; and an alarmingly high average increase in use of 13% since last fall. 40 per cent of those served are children. 20 per cent of those served are Ontarians with a disability. 1 in 5 food banks in Ontario does not have enough food to meet the needs of those they serve. With your support, the organization acquires and moves eight million pounds of food and one million litres of fresh milk to local food banks every year through our food bank distribution network. OAFB also engages in extensive work to reduce hunger. Our Cost of Poverty paper, 2008, www.oafb.ca, coordinated a group of leading economic and public policy experts to provide a first ever analysis of poverty’s economic impact on Ontario. OAFB has a lean administrative rating of 3 %.

Guelph Food Bank was established by Spiritwind Christian Centre in 1989. Food Bank clients vary in age, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, but they have one thing in common they are all faced with financial hardship. West Broadway Development Corporation operates a number of programs, however our main fundraising drive is for the Good Food Club (GFC). The GFC makes healthy, nutricious, affordable food available in West Broadway and inner-city Winnipeg. Help us create food security, so that all people, at all times, have access to safe, nutricious food to meet dietary needs for an active and healthy live. Our program is guided by the membership, primarily people living below the poverty line. Members can volunteer for "sweat equity points" and exchange these for healthy food. The Compass is a drop-in centre and food bank, serving south Mississauga. It is an outreach initiative of Christian churches in the Clarkson/Lorne Park/Port Credit community. The Actors' Fund of Canada is a registered charity that provides short-term financial aid to entertainment industry professionals working in theatre, film & TV, music and dance. Performers, creators, technical staff and other production team members can apply for help from the Fund which delivered over $460,000 in rent payments, grocery money, utility payments and other basic living expenses to clients in the last 12 months and over $4.5 million in the last 10 years. The Actors' Fund receives no government funding and is wholly sustained by support from individuals and entertainment industry organizations.

BB4CK works in partnership with Calgary schools to make and deliver free healthy lunches for students who would otherwise go hungry. Through the work of community groups and volunteers, we provide about 2,000 lunches each day. Lunches are prepared in our main kitchen, and in various other locations by community groups including retirees, parent groups and local businesses. Nourishment is available to any young person who arrives at school without enough to eat. BB4CK works with school staff members to identify needs and to plan how best to make sure hungry students get the nutrition required to think clearly and learn. By enabling better education outcomes, BB4CK gives students a hand up, not just a handout. Each lunch costs only about $1 to make. Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids has one goal: no hungry kids in Calgary. We strive toward this goal each day by providing healthy lunches directly to kids, and by empowering communities to create lasting social change.

The London Food Bank was officially incorporated on January 1, 1987. It is a non-profit, charitable organization, governed by a community board of directors. There are two parts to its mandate: * To act as a front-line agency assisting those struggling to make ends meet * To act as a food warehouse and work with other agencies that assist people in need

As a family resource program we invite parents/grandparents with children 0 - 5 years old to enjoy our active playroom, participate in parent education programs and share the joys and challenges of parenting. Becoming a parent is a life altering event and many families lack the support and wisdom of grandparents and experienced friends. Here they are supported by early childhood education (ECE) certified staff and family support workers. The first six years of life form the crucial foundation for all the years to follow. We help parents be the best they can be to ensure their children have a good start in life.

The Ottawa Food Bank supplies 138 emergency food programs, bringing hope to people who need it most. Dozens of organizations such as The Shepherds of Good Hope, The Ottawa Mission and the Salvation Army rely heavily on The Ottawa Food Bank, as do school meal programs, shelters and neighbourhood grocery programs throughout the National Capital Region. The Food Bank depends upon the generosity of donors like you to make this work possible.
