Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1946, has developed a unique expertise on a wide variety of issues involving the special needs of our members veterans of the armed forces who have experienced spinal cord injury or dysfunction. PVA will use that expertise to be the leading advocate for: - Quality health care for our members - Research and education addressing spinal cord injury and dysfunction - Benefits available as a result of our members military service - Civil rights and opportunities which maximize the independence of our members and all people with disabilities. Operation Gratitude seeks to honor the service of our military and first responders by creating opportunities to express gratitude. In March 2003, Operation Gratitude sent its first four individually addressed care packages to deployed service members in Iraq. In subsequent years, Operation Gratitude grew and intentionally expanded its reach to include recruit graduates, veterans, military families, and first responders. Our actions have served to lift the spirits of more than 3.3 million individuals and have provided opportunities for millions of Americans to express their appreciation for those who serve and protect our nation and their communities. Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, Inc. provides basic literacy and life skills training to low-income women using a holistic approach within a compassionate, supportive environment. We proudly welcome women of all backgrounds and circumstances to our center. Founded in 1987 by two educators who wanted to assist mothers of children in the local schools to help their children succeed, Mercy Learning Center (MLC) started as a one-on-one tutoring program. Today, MLC offers comprehensive full- and part-time literacy and life skills programs, an educational childcare program and ancillary services to over 500 women and 100 of their children each year. Having served more than 17,000 women and their children since its beginnings, MLC is helping to improve the quality of life for women and families throughout the Greater Bridgeport community.

We strive to serve the LGBT community with a full-service, multi-faceted approach to programming, from hosting arts and entertainment events, advocacy groups and family gatherings to offering youth, recovery and overall wellness programs. 

Big Cat Rescue, one of the world’s largest accredited sanctuaries for exotic cats, is a leading advocate in ending the abuse of captive big cats and saving wild cats from extinction. Care of our cats. The narrow mission of Big Cat Rescue is to provide the best permanent home we can for the abused, abandoned and retired cats in our care. We do this by building enclosures in a very natural habitat with foliage and shelter on our 67 acre site, by providing the best nutritional and medical care possible, and by having active operant conditioning and enrichment programs to provide for their physical and psychological well being. Education. The broader mission of the sanctuary is to reduce the number of cats that suffer the fate of abandonment and/or abuse and to encourage preservation of habitat and wildlife. We urge people to behave in a way that will support these goals by teaching people about the plight of the cats, both in the wild and in captivity. We accomplish this through educational guided tours, educational programs for young people, and by maintaining a website that is the world's largest and best resource for information about exotic cats.
