Founded in 1983, the mission of the United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC) is to open doors to people with disabilities by providing access to challenging and adventurous recreation that increases their sense of health and well being. USARC is committed to building self-confidence by enabling personal achievement, developing awareness of potential and increasing the ability to overcome limitations. United Way of Greater Los Angeles (UWGLA) is a leader in the movement to end poverty in Los Angeles County. Our work brings together individuals and institutions - private, public sector and voluntary - to create pathways out of poverty and improve the quality of life for all Angelenos. Through our 10-year plan, we focus on long-term solutions in three interconnected areas: * Ending homelessness by ensuring access to permanent housing with support services * Increasing high school graduation by improving academic achievement in middle school *  Enabling low-income families to achieve financial stability through job training, placement and asset-building supports  Ending poverty requires a multi-pronged approach. Through our work, we: * Provide expert research on our community's most pressing problems; *  Convene unique partnerships to develop solutions to the challenges we face; * Advocate for local, state and federal policy changes to alter the systems that keep people in poverty; *  Invest in 130 programs that get results and give people the support and tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty - for good.

We mobilize the community to help people improve their lives. We are focused on demonstrating impact in all aspects of our work. Our human and financial resources are dedicated to achieving measurable results in four key areas identified by the community. We believe that families need to be self-sufficient, everyone should be ready to work, young people must succeed in school and that people in need can find help. This year, over $1,000,000 will be invested in 39 community-based programs that align with these priorities. Funding decisions are made locally by a team of 45 volunteers from all walks of life and approved by the Board of Directors. For every dollar donated, $0.85 is returned to the community in programming and 100% of every donation remains in Southern Chautauqua County.

Maryvale's mission, inspired by the compassionate service of our Vincentian founders, faithful to Catholic social teaching rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the charism of the daughters of charity, is to heal, empower and educate children and families in order to instill hope for a more fulfilling future. We do this by providing residential, educational, mental health and community-based services in an environment of dignity, love and respect.

Each year, Newgate Mission provides hope in the form of life-changing services, including 82,000 meals, housing assistance, a community, job readiness, health and hygiene, life’s essentials, and transportation.
