Established in 1999, Chattering Children's mission is to equip children with hearing loss and their families with a foundation for lifelong learning through listening and spoken language, and to integrate them into a hearing world. Chattering Children currently serves children with hearing loss (some of whom also have visual, motor and/or learning disabilities) who in live Washington, DC, northern Virginia and the Maryland suburbs. Chattering Children provides ongoing educational and clinical services to children with hearing loss throughout their growth and development, as well as coaching and education to their families. Left untreated, hearing loss in early childhood causes a cascade of other delays in language, cognition and social development. Early intervention is imperative if children with deafness are to overcome the challenge posed by the lack of access to sound early in life. Universal newborn hearing screening was heralded as a huge advancement in treating hearing loss because age at intervention is clearly linked with improved outcomes. But, each year the CDC reports that approximately one-third of all children identified through universal newborn hearing screening are lost to follow-up. Those children who do not receive early intervention are destined for a lifetime of poor outcomes. We would like to reach more infants and children who are in need of our services due to limited access to diagnostic testing centers and long waits at centers properly equipped to test infants. Chattering Children is pursuing funding to upgrade audiological equipment that will enable us to provide diagnostic testing for newborns and young children with complex cases who have been identified to have hearing loss, but lack access to timely intervention. The equipment we hope to acquire is portable, enabling Chattering Children to work with local agencies and clinicians to provide screenings across the metropolitan area, meeting these children and their families where they live, eliminating access, travel and transportation obstacles.

Children Now's mission is to find common ground among influential opinion leaders, interest groups and policymakers, who together can develop and drive socially innovative, “win-win" approaches to helping all children achieve their full potential.

We work to make sure no child ever has to live alone on the streets. With projects in the UK, India and East Africa we race to reach these children before an abuser does. At street level our outreach workers find children and take them to one of our safe spaces. We provide food, shelter, safety, support and education while trying to reunite them with family or another long-term solution. At community level we change perceptions through campaigns, training and skills transfer to make street children visible and not to be ignored or stepped over. At government level we use our research and expertise to influence policy makers and leverage government support for children living on the streets.

Tuesday’s Children provides healing and resilience for military families of the fallen and families affected by 9/11, turning pain into purpose while honoring their legacies.

Since its founding by Murray and Margaret Dryden in 1970, SCAW has raised over $40 million to provide bedkits for children in 34 countries. In 2009 we reached our millionth child.

Advocates for Children and Families, Inc. (ACF) was founded in 1992 to provide ethical adoption services to children and families. Throughout our 30 years of operation there have been many changes in legislation and advances in the evidence-based social sciences related to adoption, that have influenced our model of practice. One aspect of our work that has never changed is ACF's child-centered approach of prioritizing the well-being of children. Our mission is to promote and assist in the formation of stable families. The well-being of children is our priority. We believe every child deserves a permanent home in a safe, nurturing environment.  Our team is comprised of attorneys, licensed mental health professionals, and support staff who are specially trained and continually engaged in advancements within the field of child welfare and adoption. ACF's commitment to advocating for children and families has resulted in over 1,026 children finding stability and permanency within a nurturing family. The mission of the Association for the Children of Regnier Haiti, Inc. (ACR) is to provide comprehensive services designed to meet the emotional, physical, educational and social needs of the children of Regnier in Cayes, Haiti, hence, promoting self-sufficiency.
