New Alternatives For Children

NAC’s mission is to provide innovative high quality services in support of birth, foster, and adoptive families caring primarily for medically complex children. NAC’s mission includes children with severe physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges and developmental disabilities. NAC’s services enable children to remain in or to be returned to their families whenever possible or to be adopted by loving families. Working primarily with children whose birth families live in poverty, NAC’s continuum of services ensures that children’s physical, social, educational, recreational, medical, and mental healthcare needs are met.

The Steelman Family Foundation

We assist families with children 3-18 who are wheelchair bound, purchase wheelchair accessible vehicles. Through the foundation and its board of directors, SFF focuses its activities in the Portland and SW Washington area. Through special events like the annual “Boo Who?” a family focused Halloween event held every October, SFF raises funding to support families touched by various disabilities focusing mostly on Cerebral Palsy and Autism. Transportation, scholarships, respite care, caregiver support activities are just a few of the ways SFF gives back.

Usa Parent To Parent

To support a national network of Parent to Parent programs to ensure access to quality emotional support for families of individuals with disabilities and/or special health care needs. Parenting a child or adolescent with special needs is challenging. Parent to Parent support, the formal "matching" of a parent or primary caregiver with an experienced, trained Support Parent - someone who understands because they have "been there" - has been shown through research to be effective in helping families find the resources they need to navigate health and education systems and to access the support they need to experience the fullness of life in their community of choice.

Westchester Jewish Community Services

Founded in 1943, the mission of WJCS, a not-for-profit organization, is to provide care to people of all ages and backgrounds who are confronting significant challenges relating to mental health, trauma, disabilities, youth, and geriatric services. WJCS’ highly trained staff serve more than 20,000 Westchester County residents each year through approximately 88+ programs. Through private funding and support from UJA-Federation of New York, WJCS also meets the diverse needs of the Westchester Jewish community, providing educational and spiritual programming in Jewish day schools, nursery schools, and synagogues.

Misioneros Del Camino

Misioneros Del Camino is a charitable, non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Florida, USA in 1986, and in Guatemala under Government Agreement #1088. It has federal tax exemption in both countries and was founded by Mrs. Leonor Portela, widow of Jose Crespo, a Cuban-American. Mrs. Portela, was widowed with a six months old son in 1961, when her husband, Captain Jose A. Crespo’s military airplane crashed into the ocean. Three days after the devastating earthquake in Guatemala on February 4, 1975 that left 23,000 dead and 100,000 injured, she traveled to Guatemala taking aid from Miami for the victims of the earthquake. While in Guatemala, she felt a calling from God to help the poor children of that country. In 1986, with the $2,700 she had raised with her prayer group, she moved to Guatemala to open a Home for the children. Family Builders By Adoption

Family Builders by Adoption believes that every child has the right to grow up in a permanent, nurturing family, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation and gender expression (SOGIE), religion, medical, physical or emotional condition. Family Builders educates the community about the needs of waiting children, advocates on their behalf, and places children with permanent, secure families through adoption and other means. Family Builders prioritizes supporting families for children who need coordinated services to achieve permanency, including children who have experienced multiple placements; children with emotional, physical, developmental and learning disabilities; LGBTQ+ youth, older children; and sibling groups of children.
