Family & Children's Agency

Family & Children’s Agency (FCA) is a leading, nonprofit human service organization committed to building better lives by increasing the social and emotional well-being of our clients. We provide strength-based, solution-focused services that meet the needs of our clients throughout the life cycle including children, families, youth, adults and seniors. Our acquired knowledge and skill has enabled us to be responsive to the changing needs in the communities we serve. Each day, the Agency’s more than 200 highly skilled and dedicated full and part-time staff members, along with volunteers, and high school and college interns work diligently to improve the lives of those in our community who need it most; the children and families in our adoption, foster care, counseling and parenting programs; youth in our ASPIRE after-school program; homeless adults and women in our Community Connections and recovery programs and seniors and their families who benefit from our Home Care services.

Carolina Children's Home

Carolina Children's Home has cared for South Carolina's young people for close to 100 years. During that time, the Home's mission has evolved to better meet the needs of our society, growing from a traditional rescue orphanage into one of the state's leading rehabilitative treatment centers for abused and neglected children and adolescents. Today, the average age of the CCH resident is 15, and a child may stay with us for as short a time as 30 days or as long as a few years - all dependent upon the child's needs. CCH can assist up to 94 residents at one time and individual treatment programs center around self-esteem, relationships, emotional development and behavioral therapy.

Children's Radio Foundation

The Children's Radio Foundation (CRF) uses radio training and broadcast to create opportunities for youth dialogue, participation, leadership, and active citizenship. Through giving youth the tools and skills to produce radio, young people are mobilized to engage in productive dialogue about the issues they face, and work together to improve their lives and communities. With 74 youth radio projects across six African countries, CRF works with radio stations and CBOs to create local platforms for discussion, information sharing, social engagement, and action. Our reporters take on issues that resonate with youth in their community, including but not limited to children's rights, sexual reproductive health and rights, power dynamics in teenage relationships, gender norms and stereotypes, HIV and AIDS-related issues, climate change, and the environment. Speaking in local languages and in a youth-friendly style, they interview community members, host debates, and bring out local perspectives. Their reporting projects, broadcasts, and outreach activities are geared to generate discussion about issues facing youth.
