The mission of the Community Habilitation Center is to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities by providing specialized training, activities, and experiences that empower them. CHC is focused on helping individuals become independent, active, employed, and socially responsible members of the community. CHC provides life and work skills training, a computer lab, art program and ceramics, fitness classes, daily fieldtrips out into the community, and a music therapy program. All activities are designed to reinforce pre-selected goals chosen by the individuals and increase their independence and understanding of their role within the community.

The mission continues empowers veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact. We redeploy veterans on new missions in their communities, so that their actions will inspire future generations to serve.

The Advocacy Project - A Voice for the Voiceless The Advocacy Project (AP) helps marginalized communities around the world take action against the root causes of their disempowerment in a way that benefits society as a whole and produces social change. To do this, we partner with community-based advocates who represent these communities and share their problems. Our support for partners is innovative and effective. First, we deploy Peace Fellows (experienced graduate students) to help partners tell their story, launch campaigns, and strengthen their organization: we have deployed 274 Peace Fellows since 2003, and in the process given our Fellows a unique experience. Second, we help partners to raise funds and manage their campaigns: we have raised over $2.5 million for partners, and are currently seeking funds through Global Giving for exciting projects in Nepal, Vietnam and Uganda. Third, we promote the work of partners internationally, using new methods of story-telling such as advocacy quilting: over 300 women have produced embroidered panels for our quilts, which have been shown throughout North America and Europe. We strive to help each Farmer increase their self-reliance, have positive social interactions and develop the skills they need to achieve their individual goals. Our vision is to provide  A Place Where Exceptional Farmers Live, Work, Play and Grow! A positive supportive environment is the foundation of our programs which focus on the development and retention of life, vocational and social skills for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD).  Maximizing employment skills, self-sufficiency and independence are critical to enabling individuals with ID/DD to meet their basic needs.

Educate the Children works with women and children in Nepal to improve health, welfare, and self-sufficiency by building skills that families can pass down to later generations. Focusing on the poorest of the poor by working strategically through women's groups, schools, and agriculture groups, Educate the Children develops a comprehensive community presence, gaining an extraordinary level of local participation and trust.

In 1988, St. Joseph the Worker was founded in response to urgent pleas of the homeless while serving dinner in the park, “we want to work, but we don’t have the tools.” Since then, the mission has remained: to assist homeless, low-income, and other disadvantaged individuals in their efforts to become self-sufficient through quality employment.

The Arc Montgomery County connects people of all ages and abilities with their communities to build inclusive and fulfilling lives. We provide daily support services to nearly 1,100 children, youth, adults, and seniors, with and without disabilities, and their families.
