Gifts for the Homeless, Inc. ("GFTH") is a nonprofit organization founded and staffed by volunteers from the Washington, D.C. area legal community. The principal objective of GFTH is to raise money for the purchase of new clothing and collect donations of certain types of used clothing and other needed items from attorneys and staff of Washington, D.C. area law firms, government agencies, in-house corporate legal departments and other legal organizations. In pursuing this objective, the GFTH Board of Directors has established the following priorities: to reach the homeless who live on the street in all four quadrants of the District of Columbia; to reach the homeless who live in shelters and in transitional housing; to reach the homeless in neighboring communities outside the District of Columbia when, and if, GFTH believes it has fully served the needs of the District; and to build a reputation for reliability by working with a core group of homeless service providers. GFTH does not typically distribute clothing directly to individuals living on the street, but works through a network of over 70 homeless service providers that include shelters, temporary residences and soup kitchens and wagons. GFTH pursues its objectives through a two-track approach. GFTH solicits direct monetary donations from the Washington, D.C. area legal community to purchase new clothes. Typically, items purchased include: (1) warm winter accessories, such as hats and gloves; (2) undergarments, such as thermals, socks and underwear; and (3) heavy bedding items, such as polar fleeces. GFTH also accepts donations of certain types of used clothing and other needed items during a large clothing drive each fall. The used clothing effort seeks to obtain those items most frequently requested by homeless service providers: (1) warm winter clothing, such as winter coats, sweaters and turtlenecks; (2) business attire, such as suits, shirts, blouses, ties and shoes; and (3) household linens, such as sheets, pillowcases and towels.

To provide compassionate, comprehensive and competent care for the poor, the marginal and the wounded among us. This commitment is woven in the Gospel vision that all life is sacred and every human person is unique and has the right to be respected and protected. Specifically, we are committed to young people and families in crisis, pregnant women and mothers and babies in crisis, and all other wounded people, within our society, who are seen as abandoned and neglected.

Building from a harm reduction model, The Open Door, Inc. provides supportive housing and related services to improve the health of the forgotten population of high-risk, chronically homeless people living with HIV.

Amber Reineck House is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to acquiring affordable properties to be used by non-profit organizations as housing and treatment services for persons seeking long-term recovery. Our vision is to reduce stigma associated with addiction by building a recovery-friendly community, providing education, and increasing acceptance and support.

The Boulevard of Chicago provides high quality, cost-effective medical respite care, holistic support, and housing services to help ill and injured homeless adults break the cycle of homelessness, restore their health, and rebuild their lives.

Their mission is to provide runaway and homeless youth safe shelter, assist in the prevention and resolution of family conflicts, and reunify families whenever possible.

The Arc Montgomery County connects people of all ages and abilities with their communities to build inclusive and fulfilling lives. We provide daily support services to nearly 1,100 children, youth, adults, and seniors, with and without disabilities, and their families.

At COTS, our mission is to assist those experiencing homelessness in finding and keeping housing, increasing self-sufficiency, and improving well-being. We envision a community where everyone has a place to call home.

To restore dignity and self-respect to thousands of women. I Support the Girls collects and distributes donations of new/used bras and new sealed packages of tampons and maxi pads to homeless women and girls across North America (and in 4 locations worldwide).

COMMUNITY ON THE RISE EXISTS FOR THE EXPLICIT PURPOSE OF PROVIDING THE NECESSARY INFRASTRUCTURE, TOOLS, AND SUPPORT FOR HOMELESS AND LOW-INCOME CITIZENS OF THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA AREA AS WELL AS CITIZENS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF ALABAMA, IN AN EFFORT TO PROVIDE THE SUPPORT AND RESOURCES FOR THESE CITIZENS TO ESCAPE POVERTY AND HOMELESSNESS. THROUGH EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION, COMMUNITY, CITY AND STATE-WIDE OUTREACH, HOUSING, AND MENTAL/PHYSICAL WELLNESS SERVICES, COMMUNITY ON THE RISE SEEKS TO POSITIVELY AFFECT LIFE OUTCOMES FOR THOSE WHO LIVE IN POVERTY AND HOMELESSNESS.
