United Way of Greater Los Angeles (UWGLA) is a leader in the movement to end poverty in Los Angeles County. Our work brings together individuals and institutions - private, public sector and voluntary - to create pathways out of poverty and improve the quality of life for all Angelenos. Through our 10-year plan, we focus on long-term solutions in three interconnected areas: * Ending homelessness by ensuring access to permanent housing with support services * Increasing high school graduation by improving academic achievement in middle school * Enabling low-income families to achieve financial stability through job training, placement and asset-building supports Ending poverty requires a multi-pronged approach. Through our work, we: * Provide expert research on our community's most pressing problems; * Convene unique partnerships to develop solutions to the challenges we face; * Advocate for local, state and federal policy changes to alter the systems that keep people in poverty; * Invest in 130 programs that get results and give people the support and tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty - for good.

To provide safe clean affordable housing to the elderly and disabled
Rebuilding Together is a national housing organization that envisions a safe and healthy home for every person. Together with over 140 affiliates throughout the country, we provide, at no cost to the homeowner, critical home repairs for low-income homeowners, including seniors, veterans, families with young children and victims of disaster. Over the past 30 years, we have successfully: engaged 3.99 million volunteers who have completed 191,955 repairs and rehabs for homes, nonprofit facilities and community spaces, which have collectively served over 5.7 million community members totaling a $1.86 billion reinvestment in communities across the country since our inception.

Our unique program allows for mothers to get the help they need while maintaining or recovering custody of their children. Our mission is to empower these families with the critical life skills needed for a substance-abuse free future. We fulfill our mission by providing the mothers and children with a safe and nurturing environment and comprehensive social services." Miriam's House was formerly known as Promises Foundation.
Lucie’s Place provides LGBTQ young adults experiencing homelessness in Central Arkansas with safe living environments, job training and counseling services in order to ensure lifelong stability and success, and works to promote equality and acceptance for LGBTQ young adults.
