In 1981 we went on our first overseas mission. Our focus has been on medical education, leaving tools for those who are called to serve the poor. Seeing the overwhelming need, we developed the Lifestream Foundation to help fund projects that came to our attention.

The Nehemiah Project is a faith-based initiative that works to build greater awareness of the challenges faced by our nation's at risk and transitioning foster youth. We build local networks of support, while advocating for more effective and supportive policies, to help this "invisible" community develop self-sufficiency and a resilient future.

We are veterans serving veterans by restoring homes and lives! Red tape is everywhere. Dealing with bureaucracy is part of business, and it can really put a halt to projects. People who are willing to take the initiative are becoming increasingly rare, but military experience counteracts that. Taking the leap and doing your job regardless of the obstacles is what Operation Enduring Gratitude is doing for our Veterans!

Care Association plans, develops, and implements innovative strategies to alleviate economic burdens on lower- and middle-income households. We serve households in the United States that pay more than 30% of their gross income on housing or are transient because of lack of affordable housing. Our projects include but are not limited to real property development, assistance for emotional resolution of blocks to achieving economic wellness, and web application development.

The mission of Humanitarian Action Network is to provide direct humanitarian aid to people who are experiencing homelessness in Sacramento, California. Humanitarian Action Network (HAN) differs from other organizations that support the homeless in that they meet people where they are on the streets. This is important because most of these people do not have the ability to travel either due to mental or physical handicap, lack of funds for public transportation, or for fear of leaving their belongings behind for the day. Utah Nonprofit Housing Corporation (UNPHC), founded in 1967, is a Utah non-profit developer of multi-family affordable housing. Staffed by volunteers until 1993, there are now almost 50 employees. UNPHC has 40 properties providing more than 1,800 units to over 2,000 individuals. In addition, UNPHC provides the property management to several of these projects, as well as technical assistance to other non profit organizations and communities wanting to develop their own affordable housing. Those we serve are low and very low income, making less than 50% of the area median income. The majority of properties serve seniors 62 and older, but UNPHC also serves special needs populations such as physically disabled, families, chronically mentally ill, homeless, families and individuals in transition from homelessness, and HIV/AIDS persons. We own 20 single-family rent-to-own homes, and a 24-unit town home project for first-time home buyers. The most basic human needs are shelter and food. If those needs are not met, individuals are excluded from other significant human interactions: employment, parenting, and social contributions. UNPHC is committed to the belief that the long-term solution to homelessness is safe, decent, and affordable housing.

Waking the Village's mission is to offer 18 months of housing and support so that Sacramento County's homeless, parenting or pregnant youth and their children can get busy living rather than surviving. Through Tubman House, young parents (18 to 21 years old) experience healthy living, intensive case management, parent coaching and educational support so that they leave prepared to be leaders in their own lives, and leaders in the lives of their children and communities. In exchange for housing, child care, and wrap around support, Tubman residents lead Youth Corps, growing as leaders as they govern Tubman and spearhead projects to build up their community.

Life Remodeled is a Detroit-based nonprofit that seeks to remodel lives along with neighborhoods, schools and homes. Our annual volunteer workforce of 10,000 comes from community organizations, churches, businesses and people who just care about Detroit. Every phase of our project is about people, those served and those who are serving. Relationships born of this approach create transformation and sustainable neighborhoods that are crucial to making Detroit’s revitalization permanent. Our partners continue to work in these neighborhoods for years to come to enhance the schools, revitalize housing, increase employment opportunities, and cultivate long-term relationships, all of which enable the development of healthy and thriving communities.

We do this by training local community members in trades-related skills through home improvement projects. Carpenter’s Shelter’s mission is to support the homeless in achieving sustainable independence through shelter, guidance, education, and advocacy. Over the last 30 years, we have evolved from a small group of concerned citizens providing shelter from the cold to an innovative leader in the effort to permanently prevent and end homelessness. We are proud to offer the broadest range of homeless services in the City of Alexandria. Each year, more than 600 men, women, and children increase their housing stability and self-sufficiency with customized, supportive care. To further improve our effectiveness, we have undertaken an ambitious property redevelopment project that will add affordable and permanent supportive housing to our rapidly gentrifying neighborhood.

THE ORLANDO UNION RESCUE MISSION FOUNDATION, INC. WAS FORMED FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING, MANAGING, AND INVESTING FUNDS SOLELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE ORLANDO UNION RESCUE MISSION, INC. (A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION). IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE POLICY ESTABLISHED BY THE ORLANDO UNION RESCUE MISSION, INC., LARGE GIFTS AND BEQUESTS ARE TRANSFERRED TO THE FOUNDATION. THE FOUNDATION IS REQUIRED TO PERIODICALLY DISBURSE THE INCOME AND THE PRINCIPAL TO OR FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE ORLANDO UNION RESCUE MISSION, INC. EXCEPT FOR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PROJECTS, THE FOUNDATION MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE PRINCIPAL IN EXCESS OF ONE-TENTH OF THE TOTAL PRINCIPAL EACH YEAR. THE ORLANDO UNION RESCUE MISSION, INC. HAS A SIGNIFICANT VOICE IN THE DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS IN THAT THEY MAY REQUEST IN WRITING ON A QUARTERLY BASIS AS TO THE AMOUNT OF THE FUNDS THAT THEY NEED. THE SUPPORTED ORGANIZATION APPROVES ALL BYLAWS AND ANY CHANGES TO THEM. THE DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS ARE STATED IN THE BYLAWS.
