Homesteads For Hope

Homesteads for Hope is a unique Community Farm experience for transitioning young adults with and without disabilities providing opportunities to learn, work, live and grow in the Greater Rochester Region. Our membership, programs, services and inclusive events are hosted on a 55 acre farm located on the banks of the historic Erie Canal creating a venue of dignity, purpose and sustainable agri-tourism. Our Mission at Homesteads for Hope is to promote sustainable lifestyles and futures by creating a collaborative community to serve all individuals without distinction.Our Vision at Homesteads for Hope is to develop an intentional agricultural-style community that offers an inclusive environment to learn, work, live and grow.

Back Bay Mission

Everything that we do at Back Bay Mission stems from our mission: strengthening neighborhoods, seeking justice, transforming lives.We strengthen neighborhoods through nine initiatives: the Micah Center (Day Center for the Homeless), Home at Last, (Permanent Supportive Housing), Rental Assistance, Emergency Assistance (Includes Food Choice Food Pantry) Community Health Worker Project, Bridges Out of Poverty education, Housing Recovery and Home Port (Housing for Veterans) Our programs are seeking justice by providing a way forward for those caught in generational poverty, those experiencing the devastation of life traumas and those who are victims of poor life choices. These programs assist the people we serve become contributing citizens in their communities, An annual average of 800 volunteers take what they learn at Back Bay Mission home with them where they have the opportunity to strengthen their own neighborhoods efforts in justice seeking. Justice seeking means supporting the people we serve in becoming more involved in their communities, educating people about the realities of poverty, and advocating on behalf of marginalized people..All of our programs transform lives. Whether we're helping a homeowner keep their home, mentoring a single mother as she plans her path out of poverty, or working with an intern who is thinking about a career in social work, we're making the lives of the people we serve better. Our work in transforming leads BBM to be catalyst in transforming individual lives that can transform our communities and the country.

Utah Nonprofit Housing Corporation

Utah Nonprofit Housing Corporation (UNPHC), founded in 1967, is a Utah non-profit developer of multi-family affordable housing. Staffed by volunteers until 1993, there are now almost 50 employees. UNPHC has 40 properties providing more than 1,800 units to over 2,000 individuals. In addition, UNPHC provides the property management to several of these projects, as well as technical assistance to other non profit organizations and communities wanting to develop their own affordable housing. Those we serve are low and very low income, making less than 50% of the area median income. The majority of properties serve seniors 62 and older, but UNPHC also serves special needs populations such as physically disabled, families, chronically mentally ill, homeless, families and individuals in transition from homelessness, and HIV/AIDS persons. We own 20 single-family rent-to-own homes, and a 24-unit town home project for first-time home buyers. The most basic human needs are shelter and food. If those needs are not met, individuals are excluded from other significant human interactions: employment, parenting, and social contributions. UNPHC is committed to the belief that the long-term solution to homelessness is safe, decent, and affordable housing.

Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago

In the spirit of volunteerism and community partnership, Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago improves the homes and neighborhoods of elderly, disabled and low-income residents so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and comfort. Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago was founded to improve the declining housing stock of homeowners in Chicago and Cook County. We serve existing homeowners, who, due to financial or physical limitations, have been unable to maintain their homes. Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago was formed in 1991 as an affiliate of the national organization, Rebuilding Together. Since then, Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago has partnered with over 600 sponsors to keep homeowners living in warmth, safety and independence. To date we have repaired over 1,600 homes and 200 nonprofit facilities in partnership with communities, corporations, trade unions, and civic groups. Our work is performed by an all-volunteer labor force, enabling us to provide repair services at no cost to our clients. In addition to physical improvements, we provide personal contact, increased understanding, and an opportunity to overcome socio-economic stereotypes. We have found that our efforts often act as a catalyst for additional neighborhood improvements. How We Are Unique Meet Basic Needs & Serve the Underserved: Our programs allow clients to use their limited budget for basic essentials like food and medication, rather than costly home repairs. We do not require sweat equity and never charge for our services. Holistic Approach: We address the needs of each home and its occupants, with a focus on health and safety. Exceptional Business Model: Every $1 we receive turns into $3.25 worth of services to residents in low-income neighborhoods-- resulting in $2 million in community reinvestment every year. We offer opportunities for volunteers to make a real difference in the community & meet people from all walks of life.

The Central Connecticut Coast YMCA is a charitable, not-for-profit, community service organization dedicated to putting Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The Y strengthens the foundations of communities and families through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in twenty-four towns and cities in the Greater Bridgeport and New Haven areas. The purpose for which G.I. Josie, Inc., is organized is to provide transitional housing ranch communities for female veterans, active duty members and female homeless veterans, all who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Military Sexual Trauma (MST). At our properties single female-veterans, homeless female veterans and active duty military members, including those with children, who suffer from PTSD and MST, and largely ignored not only by society but also the VA, will heal in an emotionally safe and physically secure environment. The intrinsic serenity of our ranches, along with the proven therapy programs facilitated by Josie volunteer directors who are experts is their field, will create a healing process and atmosphere which is found nowhere else in the country. There are a vast multitude of equine therapy programs and canine companionship programs, as well as many other con-clinical therapies, which are currently in use and approved by the VA. However, no current veteran housing is equipped to provide the myriad of programs to our female veterans and their children in one location that Josie will, many of which will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Because no one heals from 9-5, we feel it is imperative that our residents have access to therapies when they need them, rather than at our convenience. Furthermore, there will be daily, weekly and monthly activities which continuously build comradery amongst the residents and where they can support one another and heal together. Our residents will live on the ranch for a minimum of 6 months, and can stay until they feel they have healed enough to take the next step toward living the life they choose. G.I.
