Air Force Enlisted Village

After a survey found over 50,000 widows of career enlisted Air Force personnel lived in poverty, the Air Force Enlisted Men's, Widows and Dependents Home Foundation was incorporated in 1971. Teresa Village, an apartment complex located in Fort Walton Beach, FL was purchased in 1975, providing the first housing for enlisted widows. Construction of Bob Hope Village was completed in 1988. Between the two villages, we have the capability to house and provide services for 450 resident in independent living apartments. A reflection of our growing and evolving mission was our official name change in 2002 to the Air Force Enlisted Village. On September 15, 2005 our new Assisted Living Residence, Hawthorn House was opened adjacent to Bob Hope Village. We can now provide a greater level of care as our residents age in place. The long range goal is to eventually build a skilled nursing residence in order to provide continuous life care. Our campus also has a beautiful all-faiths chapel, a welcome center and an administrative building. Providing for resident's physical, social , psychological, health and security needs is the AFEV's only purpose.
