Nurse Heroes seeks to provide every nurse with the resources and opportunities they need and create a future without a shortage of nurses. As an accelerating shortage of nurses around the world exists, if nothing changes within three years we will have about 1 million fewer nurses than we require in the United States and a shortage of 2 million nurses in Europe. It is a similar trend globally. The organization is committed to informing and inspiring the world to help create a future without a shortage of nurses and nurse practitioners, celebrating nurses through the arts with celebrity concert series, monthly art contests, and nurse choir performances.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation's (“TAPF”) mission is to address childhood hunger and malnutrition in India simultaneously and to increase underprivileged children's access to education. TAPF's vision is that no child shall be deprived of education because of hunger. The Sanskrit words “Akshaya Patra,” meaning inexhaustible vessel, aptly reflects the organization's aspirations to provide unlimited food to underprivileged children and mitigate their sufferings. The organization's long-term goal is to replicate this model throughout India and the world. Our partnership with the Government of India and various State Governments, along with the persistent support from corporates, individual donors, and well-wishers have helped us to grow from serving just 1,500 children in 5 schools in 2000 to serving 2 million children. Today, Akshaya Patra is the world’s largest (not-for-profit run) Mid-Day Meal Program serving wholesome food every school day to over 2 million children from 22,000 schools across 14 states & 2 Union territory of India.

At the time of this writing there are over 26,000 children attending San Diego County schools who have been identified as food insecure, meaning they don't know where their next meal will come. Their primary source of nutrition is the school cafeteria food they receive Monday through Friday. Many of them have nothing of nutritional value to eat on the weekends. Our mission is to provide weekend meals to children with the inability to thrive due to lack of nutritious food in their homes. We do this by filling backpacks full of nutritious food for these children to take home on the weekends. Each backpack contains 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, and a few healthy snacks, enough meals to sustain them through Saturday and Sunday.

ChildServe is a not-for-profit organization that partners with families to help children with special health care needs live a great life. Originally founded in 1928 as a convalescent home for children, today ChildServe provides specialized pediatric health care services to more than 2,000 children in Iowa. Through the support of private insurance, public funds, and the philanthropic efforts of the ChildServe Foundation, ChildServe offers accessible, family-centered care unique to each child’s needs, hopes, and dreams. The Loretto Foundation is the not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to provide financial support by the solicitation of funds and property from the general public, charitable foundations and all other appropriate sources to help sustain Loretto's role as an innovator in long-term care, responsive to the diverse needs of an aging population. The Loretto Foundation also strives to heighten community awareness of Loretto, its programs and services in providing for the needs of older adults. The Loretto Foundation supports the Loretto mission that, Loretto, rooted in a rich heritage of faith and service, works to honor and empower Elders and those who care for them to live with purpose, wholeness and dignity.
